Access the beach seating area from the Chinese Temple

Post by Gus »

Is it possible to access the beach seating area from the Chinese Temple direction, there was a bit of a blow on today and with high water it can sometimes be impossible to get past the Hilton part of the beach.

Yes, if you walk past the front of the temple there is a small curved promenade with concrete seating and after that there are steps down to the beach.

Thanks Steve, I did know about that beach access, what I didn't know was if it is currently passible. The weather conditions today brought back memories of when the vendors had to move south of the main beach entrance.
maybe a BM can jump on a Honda Wave in the morning and have a butchers. :)

I've never seen the tide that high but I'm only in town for about a third of the year so it's possible, I pass there almost every day when I'm there but I'm not back for a few weeks. We need a "tidecam" on the internet!

On the day of my first aborted beach walk, I did take a photo, which I've since deleted, of that particular beach access point at LOW tide. There was a way through, but I'm not sure how it would be at High Tide at the moment. The rise and fall is only about a Metre at the moment.

I have only just woke up :) if the wind has dropped I will give it a go. If not then I shall just have to go the long way round.

High tide isn't until 2 this afternoon - I'd give it a go. Worse case scenario, a 10 minute diversion.

It was passible today around 1245, I took my sandals off but if you were quick footed it was possible to transit the area with shoes on.
Is there a tide table available, I used to see one in AWOL, but that seems in short supply these days.

I've been using another one that I found that shows the whole year on a PDF file so that you can print it off:
