Is it over in Bang Saphan, and all life and property came through it ok?

Looking at the radar and satellite it appears that the worst is now over. Pete

Prachuap Khiri Khan province in the lower Central and Chumphon in the upper South are still ravaged by flooding with three people reported killed, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department director-general Chayapol Thitisak said on Sunday.

Mr Thitisak said as a result of the strong monsoon across the lower South during Nov 7-11, flash floods and river overflows occurred in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces in the lower Central and Chumphon in the upper South.

The situation has eased in Phetchaburi, leaving Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon in trouble.

In Chumphon, 472 villages in 60 tambons of Pathiu, Sawi, Muang, Lang Suan, Thung Tako, Tha Sae and La Mae districts have been ravaged by flash floods with 36,315 people affected. Two villagers were reported killed and 65 schools, 65 roads, 56 bridges and 4,235 rai of farmland damaged. The water is receding.

Mr Chayapol said concerned officials and soldiers as well as disaster relief equipment have been deployed to drain water from flooded areas. Survival kits and necessities have been distributed to flood-hit villagers.

Affected people can call hotline 1784 around the clock for help, he added.

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: The Bang Saphan Noi municipality was flooded again on Monday after overnight heavy rains pounded the town and nearby areas.

The downpour made reservoirs overflow, flooding Bang Saphan Noi district. The water level downtown is still rising, said Kittikorn Thepuamnuay, the provincial disaster prevention and mitigation office chief.

Municipality workers are reinforcing sandbags in the town centre to prevent more water flowing into the area.

The office warned of possible runoff and mudslides in Bang Saphan Noi, Bang Saphan and Thap Sakae districts.

The Meteorological Department expected further downpours in parts of Prachuap Khiri Khan, as well as Chumphon, Surat Thani, Phatthalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Songkhla, until Tuesday.

Bang Saphan Noi is one of the province's most flood-prone districts, as it lies on low terrain nearby the Tanaosri mountain range bordering Myanmar. The most recent case of flooding was only last month, when heavy rains inundated Phetkasem Road, making roads impassable to small vehicles.

Southern floods stabilise, but more rain is forecast

https://www.bangkokpost.com/news/genera ... s-forecast

Floodwaters were receding in Nakhon Si Thammarat province on Monday and had stopped rising in Narathiwat, Patthalung and Surat Thani provinces, but a close flood watch was being kept in Chumphon, where there was continuing steady rain.

Thongplew Kongjun, director-general of the Royal Irrigation Department, said flooding in Muang district of Nakhon Si Thammarat peaked about 8pm on Sunday with the water at depths of 30-50 centimetres, and was now subsiding. Local officials were using pumps to accelerate drainage.

About 20 local schools were still closed and a 10-year-old child was missing in Cha-uat district.
Main roads and Nakhon Si Thammarat airport were usable, but Bangkok-Nakhon Si Thammarat train services were suspended due to flooding of the tracks in Ron Phibul district.

In Narathiwat province, there was flooding in low-lying areas near the Kolok River in Sungai Kolok municipal area. The floodwater was around 36cm deep, and stable. Communities in the municipality were not affected.

In Surat Thani province, farmland and communities were under 50-80 centimetres of water in Kanchanadit district. Commercial and urban areas were intact. The floodwater was expected to drain off in a few days.

In Phatthalung province, low-lying areas were flooded to a depth of 5-10cm in Khuan Khanun municipality of Khuan Khanun district.

However, in Chumphon officials were on standby in Lang Suan, Lamae and Phato districts as the rain was persistent there.

The Meteorological Department warned of further heavy rain in the lower South, extending over Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat provinces, brought by the strong northeasterly monsoon.
