Interesting vid of the latest drone tour taken just a few weeks ago.
Shows the development of the twin rail freight lines.

Thank for the videos.

If that were done where my house is (Korat), there would be six parallel rail lines:

• Two standard gauge elevated lines for the high speed train.
• Two narrow gauge elevated lines for normal speed passenger trains
• Two narrow gauge grade level lines for freight trains.

Seems a bit crazy.

I guess what irks me a bit is that it seems to defeat one of the purposes of elevated track: to eliminate dangerous grade crossings. So, yeah, they are eliminating dangerous grade crossings in the middle of nowhere, but in more densely populated areas where there are passenger railroad stations, there will still be dangerous grade crossings.

Why bother?

HHTel's video above is the August installment. Big Boy's video at the bottom of Page 12 is the latest, September.

The chances of the high speed train (not the dual track currently being built) passing through HH town are close to zero. I seem to recall that the original plan (10 years ago ?) had the station out toward the bypass.

An interesting video - early in the clip the author states that a spokesman says the line will be open by the end of “this” year. If they had said the end of 2023 I might have thought, it’s possible, but never in a million years will they be able to open it this year and even by end of next year might be a tall order - I’d love to be proved wrong though!!

There will be an underpass

So, which is it? Underpass or grade crossings?

That will be quite a feat of engineering, especially with them building a dual carriageway for cars immediately adjacent to the low level dual track. I must admit, I'd never heard of that one before.

The only tunnel I've heard of will be the pedestrian underpass from the dual carriageway/passenger drop off to the new station building. It will be interesting to see how they will disperse the excess water when it rains. OK. it doesn't rain very often, but a couple of decent showers will probably see an East/West divide because the tunnels have flooded i.e. the water from the hills will also have to pass through these tunnels en route to the sea.

Yes, that is the underpass I am referring to, under the freight tracks. As far as I can see you will still have to cross the widened road. Sorry if I misunderstood the issue.

As far as I'm aware (and as BB alludes to) the only underpass will be a pedestrian one at the station itself. There will be no vehicle underpasses according to anything I've heard or seen.

Considering the flood prevention projects over the last few years which have been very successful, I doubt there'll be a problem. A drainage system is being installed and I guess there'll be a pumping system to get rid of excess water.
It was always a concern when building the Bangkok Metro but that survived the floods of 2011 without flooding. I reckon they have that covered.

Ok, this is speculation, but I guess that access for vehicular traffic will be at the other side of the station with access from Soi 88.
