Don't worry while she's using the bucket. Your problems will start when she hasn't got the bucket with her.

Be grateful its just some leaf or herb, it could be worse - the dreaded blood nuts.

You're all twisted!!
Leave the old ladies alone and their teeth can prosper.
BTW - who's tried the betel nut? I have and it's "different".

It is not only the old ladies that have the disgusting habits. It is just that they reach a certain age and lose ther self conciousness.

C'mon Guys, how can you even think of joking about the dreaded blood nut?
:cuss:

I've been reading the threads on this forum for many months now, and you all seem to have visited rural Thailand from time to time. Do you not find it absolutely disgusting when the old ladies who have been chewing their blood nuts feel obliged to find any Farang with 50 miles and lay a kiss on them? It seems that I can't walk through my wife's village without being attacked by at least 4 'vapire like' women in search of another victim! It can't just be an obsession with my fantastic body.

My wife often tells of the story when her father started her smoking. His theory was that if his daughter smoked, it would stop her wanting to chew blood nuts - I'd rather have all of my teeth removed.

Have you ever been around when one of them discharges their little plastic bucket? I'd rather swim in a pool of vomit.
:cuss:

Chewing blood nuts makes nose picking, smoking etc seem like quite a sociable act.

So it is a nut that i seen them wrap in those leafes...:o

I once asked a lady if there where any positive effects by chewing this, answer was no,just for the good taste she answered

Found this on internet:
"The nut of the Betel or Areca catechu tree contains arecoline, a mild central nervous system stimulant"

Right you are. Some like valium, others like to munch betel and other stimuli.

Egnater 76,

Think what you've seen are the " old ladies" wrapping salt crystals in tobacco leaves.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

I can announce that 'Shakin Boxcar' was the winner with his effort.
I did think that beef was a bit too tender for Thai beef!!

From the red colour of their saliva it must have been the nut...
