Furniture for New Condo
Furniture for New Condo
I'm about to take possession of a new condo just south of Cha Am. I'll have an immediate need for a mattress, refrigerator and a few other small furniture items. Our first visit will be for just over a week, so I'd like to purchase and have delivered within a day or so. Of course, cost is a consideration, but not a huge one. I want a good quality mattress and a decent but small frost-free fridge.
I was thinking of Home Pro (service here in Korat is just fine), but then I read that thread from 2011….
Any other suggestions? Tesco? Big C? Boonthavorn?
I've always visited the area as a tourist, so don't have much knowledge of the retail scene.
TIA

Re: Furniture for New Condo
I wouldn't write off Home Pro without Paying them a visit - I was in there the other day and they certainly had a wide selection of fridges and beds on display, but whether they have them in stock is the question? They may also have the other things you need.
For beds/mattresses you could also try Koncept which is on the left hand side driving from Cha Am to HH, just before you reach Makro or about a km further along there is Index where you may find what you want.

Thanks
Re: Furniture for New Condo
Just south of Cha Am there is a branch of Big Kiang, a Thai style warehouse sort of a place that sells pretty much anything at good prices. As you can't be far away, they would probably be able to deliver almost immediately.
Re: Furniture for New Condo
Thanks, Steve. Is it on the main highway? Which side?
Never noticed it.

Re: Furniture for New Condo
It's on the north side of the main highway, it's just a large open fronted warehouse but on the sign board outside it does say "Big Kiang" at the top in English above all the Thai script. It's not a fancy place and they sell a lot of cheaper stuff but it's worth a look as they do have some decent products as well.

Thanks.
Re: Furniture for New Condo
For good quality Mattress I would go to Index Furniture. They have a "clearance showroom" with BIG discounts. Quality names. For fridge you will find one easy at most of the Bog Box stores.
I wouldn't have to manage my anger if people could learn to mange their stupidity!

I thought that all Farangs in Korat were as poor as Church mice?ratsima wrote:I'm about to take possession of a new condo just south of Cha Am.

Which is why some of us need an escape condo.
Now, if I can just get my wife to move her law office....
Re: Furniture for New Condo
The stuff at Index normally will get delivered but usually there is a few days at least between ordering and delivery. Big Kiang is usually an hour or two between purchase and delivery. Home Pro delivery is also subject to availability and can take a day or so. Not sure about the others as haven't purchased from them. Most of the cheaper places have the items is stock and will deliver on the same day.
Re: Furniture for New Condo
I've been buying from Big Kiang for more than 15 years. They take good care of warranty and are in general reliable. If you buy from them, they deliver, assemble, install and take out the packing material.

Re: Furniture for New Condo
Hi Ratsima and welcome to HH.
We did similar last April and top of our list were 2 mattresses.
Big Kiang and Index are very good for many things, but we ended up getting our mattresses from a small shop just south of Boonthavorn.
It's a small shop that only deals in mattresses and a few beds. Its crammed full and is on a street corner, so not too hard to see when driving.
Good prices and they delivered within 2 hours.
By the way its on the same side of the road as Boonthavorn.
I hope this is of help to you.
