All laws in Thailand are subject to interpretation by the police and those interpretations are influenced by the amount of money offered.

Yet only yesterday, I bought vape juice from a shop openly displaying their products on shelves. It's the only thing they sell!

Only in Thailand.

Vaping is illegal, but smoking Cannabis* is legal.

I'm personally not interested in either, but don't mind what others do as long as I don't get the smoke/fumes.

Pattaya cop on e-cig extortion charge dismissed from service
A Pattaya police officer accused of demanding 60,000 baht from a tourist for possession of an e-cigarette has been temporarily dismissed from the police service pending a serious disciplinary investigation.

Pol Sen Sgt Maj Noppakrit Pornwatanathanakij, a traffic officer at Pattaya police station, was initially transferred to an inactive post at the operations centre of the provincial police office on Feb 1 following a news report and pictures on the "Hone Krasae" television programme aired on Channel 3 on Jan 31.

In the report, a Chinese tour guide was said to have sent a message to other guides in his group saying that a tourist under his care was detained for having an e-cigarette by a policeman who demanded a fine of 60,000 baht. After some bargaining, the sum was reduced to 30,000 baht. This allegedly happened in Pattaya on Jan 28 or 29.

The upshot is that the "police" may think twice now about extorting money from foreigners.

The edicts coming from the government get more ridiculous as the days go by.
You can smoke marijuana legally.
If you're found in possession of a vape you risk a 30,000 baht fine and up to 10 years in jail!
More recently baggage inspection for incoming travelers has been scrapped.

I see a couple of vape shops at the back of Pae Mai doing brisk business.

How much do they cost in general?

I see nobody wants to actually answer your question....

I hear that mid sized ones cost 250, 3 pct nicotine (maybe he'd Ask 300). thinner ones 200/250, and there are ones with disposable heads where you keep the body which holds the coil and replace flavoured heads cheaply. They cost more for first purchase obvs, but I think they even do 5pct nicotine.

This from a friend who knows the Prae Mai shop (Mr.Pipe).

And yes I understand there is also a guy who sells around Bintabaht area.

I just noticed this post. I think it's very logical (if wrong) to ban vapes and not weed. Vapes threaten the Thai tobacco industry as they proviide a direct nicotine replacement, but cannabis isn't used as an alternative to cigarettes so is no threat to cigarette sales, in fact it increases sales as tobacco is used to roll spliffs (but not joints). Vapes provide no benefit to those Thais in control of the country, but a supply of weed (same as cheap Thai alcohol and other 'bread and circuses' tricks) helps to keeps the people subjugated, and allowing them to grow it looks progressive.

The concern isn't to protect the health of the publlic, it's to protect the health of the finances of anyone working in or grafting off the tobacco industry.

Hawkers sell vapes around Bintabaht, not sure what they charge. There are at least a couple of shops that have a large selection. A 5000 puff Quik goes for 350 Baht there. A tout in Soi 80 tried to r*pe me for 500 for one....

Thank you for the heads up. The two stores were even busier than ever on Tuesday.

So just to confirm, these are not weed vaporisers like we used to DIY in the past?
