My Helmet Stinks

Post by tuktukmike »

I've noticed that my helmet really stinks unless I wash it every few days. I never had this problem in the U.K

I don't want to mess about with washing it any more than once every couple of weeks, even though I'm not French.

Are there any tips that anyone has on how to stop helmet smell?

By the way I have a full face helmet in case you were wondering :P

I found this on another forum.

Any advice??????.

Mike.

Should this not be in health issues section mike?
Personal hygiene section

Don’t think there is ant real form of dealing with this issue Mike,
Washing the helmet will only shorten the life of the helmet and linings ,we are in a hot climate and pushing your sweaty head in and out of that protective cavity will indeed cause dampness leading to the smelly helmet syndrome , I normally leave mine outside open end facing the sun to dry it out thoroughly , avoid this if your neighbors have cats mine just had the lining chewed out of it by such a animal hence I need a replacement now and the neighbor’s cat is on a short life span

I've noticed some expats over here wearing a bandana wrapped around their head under their helmet. I always wondered why, now perhaps I know the reason. Maybe worth a try. Pete

PS: Failing that, maybe a Glade stick up? The urge to say it was simply too great!...LOL>>>>

For the sake of Buddha, go and see a Doctor and make sure his name is not Dave,

Hi stinky helmet guy,

Maybe your hair is oily type and your helmet is too tight and the air exchange system is not real good.

Btw do you think you need full head helmet under the Thai sun?
I'm adorable crazy ! :-)
