Winter Olympics 2014 thread

Post by mwbrown »

Does anyone know which channels on which TV systems will be showing Olympic events?

I get about 30 channels on True's satellite system at my condo without a box, but I don't think any of them will be showing any events.

Thanks.

Olympic Games - where to watch? Need big screen & good sound

Post by Pavel »

Hi All,

Are you going to watch the Winter Olympic Games Opening Ceremony tonight?
Where would you recommend to go to watch the show on TV at it's best? I mean big screen, good sound system (yet not too noisy to talk to someone), not too packed, great food & drinks selection, quite centrally located.

Please advise based on the criteria listed in that order.

Thanks,
Pavel

P.S. It starts at 23.14 tonight. The biggest and most expensive Olympics ever takes place in Sochi, Russia.

For more info: wikipedia . org/wiki/2014_Winter_Olympics

Many of you here come from US, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Norway and have your favourites in figure skating, skiing, biathlon... So where to go to enjoy it?

To answer my own post, I found this article on using VPNs to get access to country-restricted Olympics coverage. I'm going to try Hola to get to bbc.co.uk.

I was surprised to find that it is not being shown on any of the 23 sports channels (about 20 of which seem to show non-stop football! :banghead: :D :D :D ) included in my TrueVisions Platinum package.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

No one should be surprised what the idiots come up with or otherwise! Top Gear series 3 screened last night! I swear Clarkson still has a squeaky voice, he is that young! Have they not just released series 14? :cuss:

By the way, no matter what the medal count ends up, I give the Gold to the Russian female athletes! :thumb: :naughty:

Great day for Finland in the olympics; one gold and one silver in skiing as well as win against Russia in icehockey. Boston's Tuukka Rask a big hero.

Two not so happy Russian supporters. :D

Curling at the Olympics

Curling might not be the most exciting game around, but when you get Sir David Attenborough to narrate a game, it changes character! ;-)
