Transferring videos to a laptop via bluetooth

Post by caller »

From my mobile phone. This is simple enough, but I can't get the videos to play. Which is a real pain as I really want to view full size the stuff I took in May and August (the link to HH!). I get the following message everytime:

Cannot start playback.

You are attempting to start playback while the playback engine is busy with another function. You will not be able to initiate playback until the other action is stopped or completed. Attempting to play by clicking on a file or link while converting media format, transferring to device, or burning a CD is a common way to cause this warning. This warning will not affect the current process and is only in place to explain why playback did not occur.

Now I've been in touch with the real player help desk and did everything they suggested, downloaded this, that and the other - codecs amongst them - and adjusted various settings on the laptop (its a Dell, does that make any difference?). Even switched off everything else in view of the above and disconnected bluetooth. I've gone back to them again but just wondered if anyone knows how to deal with this. Photos are no problem.

Its a pity no-one was able to help with my other message about the cost of DVD, as I'm sending the money on Monday. I've been told by the g/f 4600b but that seems really cheap?

Thanks for any help.

Caller :)

Sorry, can't help you with the bluetooth.
Can only say that I've transferred lots of videos from my Samsung phone to pc via cable. Had the same problem as you with Sony/Ericsson - bluetooth - pc.

That is helpful - thanks. I'll check out the possibility of a cable feed, although as I have a samsung mobile, I might not be able to? BUT what it has prompted me to think about, if no joy from Realplayer, is to go into a specialist shop and get them transferred onto disk if possible? So thanks for the input! :thumb:

I've just re-read your message and I feel a bit of a twat!!! If you did it with the same make of phone as me - I read the original message too quickly - then I can. What cable did you use? As my phone only has a port for the charger.

My Samsung is a SGH-D410.
I tried to use a billionton USBBT02-b Bluetooth to my Sony/Ericsson but it didn't work out the way I wanted. My phone hang up while receiving data, and my pc received the dataflow, but that too hung up.
Then that phone was stolen.
I then bought the Samsung and since this phone don't have BT, I had to buy a cable. One end is a common USB, the other end has a Samsung connector named SAM V200/V205.
It's a USB interface data cable of course.

Your problem I think, is a codec problem. The BT is ok, the tel. receives data, the codec installed can't be the correct one because the processor is trying to convert the received signals, but is not able to read/write them.
Goes in a loop and the result is a "dead" pc.

It's a bit difficult to give any good answer to your problem, but if possible you could try to reinstall the correct codec or codec package.
Is your BT working correctly? Do you have a connection between your pc's e-mail program and the phonebook/notebook in your phone?
Do you use Win XP or any other operating system?
Get a codec intended for either XP or your operating system.
Never had a Dell and know nothing about any "special features" with it.
Can you download anything at all via your BT?
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

Well, your help is much appreciated, but I'm beginning to suffer from IT fatigue!!! All has been done in accordance with realplayer, codecs, & BT. All of the downloads have been those I've been told to do or pointed to and I can download other data from BT. I suspect the cable may be the thing?

Tell me, have others done as I have? Use a PC all day at work but now I have my own kit, the rest of the world can go to hell! I assume it wears off after a while? And isn't windows XP crap? How easy is it to get access to proper word processing?

Norseman I owe you a beer!

I just had to check that my Real Player ver. 10.5 works ok with my phone-taken *.AVI files, and, no problem.
Have you tried to use Windows Media Player or DivX instead of R.P.?
As for the beer, thank you.
A bit cold for that now, it's freezing 22 degrees in writing moment.

Hi Norseman,

Well, Real player never got back to me a 2nd time, so I guess I might need to upgrade to a more recent version, although they haven't suggested that.

I also seem unable to switch off bluetooth on the laptop, which may be an issue?

Tried Windows and the DivX but still no joy.

Pretty cold here, but I'm warmed by a brisk walk back from the local pub after watching Chelsea beat the Arsenal. Great atmosphere between the two sets of fans!!

I'll have another go at this tomorow!!

Hi Caller.

Do as Arsene Wenger say:
"I associate the referee and the linesman in the same team — the Chelsea team".

You know, if you can't beat them - join the fuc**** Real Networks.

You're maybe right with the upgrading?
My RP is ver 10.5 with Harmony and plenty of transfer plugins as well.
Has a lot of codec stuff implemented.

Could be some BT software interrupt controller/handler failure with the dataflow as well. Sampling/Bitrate.

Try to change settings if any.

If nothing works, merry x-mas to you - hit the wall and try again.

Well Norseman,

The saga continues! This is becoming a long player and probably tedious to everyone else - its hardly my favourite subject either!! And I have a sneaky suspision some of the techies out there are sniggering at my expense?

Anyway, (yawn) Real Player have got back to me with a link that identifies what systems RP's basic version supports and guess whats missing? Anyway, they've now asked for the details of my phone and 3gp and have promised to get back to me - and I learnt how to switch bluetooth off to!

The heads recovered a bit today as well and whilst I think Wengers comments were stupid, I thought the once was great ones actions in walking off without shaking hands was pretty pathetic as well.

What goes around comes around and it'll be interesting to see who laughs last?!?

Hi Caller.
Hope you'll solve the pc problem.
As for Chelsea, Frank Lampard has been declared the second best player in the world at FIFA’s World Player Gala.
Not bad.
Not bad by Ronaldinho either as he won the title.
But Barca?
No.

Right - gloves off! This is p**s*ng me off now - big time!!!

So RP get back, yeah, you're short of a few downloads, click on tools then updates and Bob's yout Uncle, except he ain't! I upgraded God knows what, including 3gpp and sure enough all the file names have been changed accordingly, but will they play? Nope!

Same message as the very 1st time I tried this out. I've rebooted, kicked the thing through the window, jumped up and down on it a few times and then kissed it better and begged forgiveness.

I'll kill it next time! :guns: :guns:

Can anyone help?

Caller; the cellphone video, are they downloaded to your pc?
Do you find them with explorer?
If you do, what kind of files are they? (*.mov *.mpeg *.wmv *.mp4) ?
Don't give up - it's just fun.

I can't give up - I promised so many people I would send copies. They are transferred to my laptop via bluetooth and arrive as 3ppg files/docs.

I'm waiting for Real player to get back to me and when I get time I will add free downloads to the windows player.

I Also found I had a belkin wifi connection that I didn't know about and I've deleted that.

I also tried with the IT guys at work, but they have been uunable to help and at some stage I will have to go back to Dell.

Why is nothing easy?

3ppg files is definitely not very common yet. Have you tried using codecs for MP3 or MP4? Have no idea if they work or not though!
I'm really not sure that Real Player have the right codecs yet.
They sure will develop them and maybe they already have them, but that is quite a big task I suppose.
No wonder why you have all these problems man!!!
Wait and see what they'll give you and good luck!!
Merry Xmas as well caller.
