1) I wonder, if anyone has recently been hospitalised in Pranburi Military Hospital.
And what is your opinion?
2) I heard long waiting queues are a "turn-off" at Hua Hin Hospital.
I also heard there is supposed to be a "fast lane" for a "tip". (200 Baht?)
What is your experience?
Kind regards,

A GRATEFUL GUEST OF THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND & HER PEOPLE
I'm not sure about a 'tip' (people tend to assume everything is down to tea money here, when often that is not the case), but I always see my doctor at Ratchaburi Hospital in the late afternoon. It's effectively a private appointment (in a public hospital) that avoids the long morning queues. It costs 200 baht and although there is still some waiting involved, it is worth every penny.
There is an office near the elevators at the HH hospital that will provide you with a english speaking Thai that will escort you about the place and fast track you everywhere and I believe it is 200 Bt for that service. I would not do it any other way.
I just had a friend have to spend the night at the military hospital as he got stung by a bug and had an immediate allergic reaction. A bad one. They knew what to do and got him sorted and the cost was all of about 1400 Bt. An over night stay at that!
Hi MajorBloodnok!
From personal experience on both the above mentioned hospitals.
Pranburi Military Hospital would be my choice.
My MIL, had been visiting Hua Hin Hospital on at least on 5 occasions, each time questions asked, meds prescribed with no results, we took her to Pranburi, on her first appointment a few questions followed by an x-ray, results and appointments for a course of Physiotherapy to follow.

Heading to Pranburi from HuaHin
Once Phetkasem road and the Hua Hin bypass become one, U turn at the first set of traffic light, 100 yard on the left.

We have unfortunately been regular guests in the local hospitals as our son has had numerous problems.
My report is as follows:
RE: Pranburi Military Hospital. Stay away. The cheap acupuncture is the only good service available. The rest I would not trust.
RE Hua Hin Hospital. No fast lines for the fat farangs. Just wait you time and you will be served. More and more young BKK doctors are working at HH hospital and they have really improved their services. Also, prices still cheap.
I'm one of those and the last two times I went they ushered me straight in ahead of all the waiting Thais. Also my wife paid 100 baht to go to the front of the queue the last time she was there.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
A friend of mine always uses Hua Hin Hospital. He has had many overnight stays over the last 3 years, for different ailments. He says the service and treatment is excellent. The new wing is like a hotel. You have to let them know that you want to be treated privately, but the cost is very reasonable. I guess if you have health insurance, then probably Bangkok Hospital is fine. If you are having to pay yourself, then Hua Hin Hospital.
Only good experience at Hua Hin Hospital, but fortunately I've only needed their outpatient services a couple of times.... and I am one who has no health insurance so I have to look for the bargains in health care.

This is quite a damning condemnation that goes against most reports I've heard. Can you explain your reasons in general terms?
Ok, let me be more specific. Pranburi Military Hospital has a great first aid, i.e. they do a splendid job to cover the wound, stop bleeding and prevent bacteria from entering and causing infection. That said, do not consider them for the appendix operation or anything more demanding treatment. It is a typical rural Thai hospital, nothing wrong about that:)
