R+R at nice resort in Kanchanaburi..

Post by usual suspect »

The Dragon said she fancied a mini-break in Kan'buri..OK I'll see what hotels will suit us by checking on the net..?? :? :?
At this stage I better mention that the young 'monkeys' were coming across from Issan, so we needed 2 rooms, each with an extra bed (to sleep 3 per room).
After trawling the net & checking various resorts/hotels..& most of all..the reviews! :| ..I chose the
'Xanado 2008' resort, situated about 10km out of the town-centre, but right on the riverside.
Well the place suited us really well, spotless chalets, pool, well-tended gardens, so,so quiet, great food cooked for us each evening & eaten on a small terrace right over the river. :D 8)
With having the pick-up, being out of town was not a problem, plus the resort is on the 'right' side of town to venture out to the waterfalls & attractions.
Upon leaving, we all agreed to come back, & check out more attractions around there.
But as somewhere to stay/good base for exploring this resort suited us really well..

Hi U.S.
We stayed xanado 2008 early February, agree with all you have said.
I’m interested to know how you found the owners, the English guy was fine with us all, but his wife did not speak to my wife or her sister (Thai) . I later found out the prefer falang guests, as apparently Thai’s book for 2 and as many as 10 turn up to say in the same room.
We had booked 2 rooms.

Thanks, that sounds quite reasonable.

Some years ago we spent a few days with some friends at a resort on a small island in the river. A few kms south of the famous bridge, if I remember correctly. Some of the bungalows were floating on the water.
Can't remember the name unfortunately...

It was the Kasem Island Resort, DM. But keep it to yourself, eh. Don't want too many people there to spoil the tranquility...

Hey there Ken..Yeah, at 1st the English man's Thai wife was not very talkative, but my Mrs soon had her nattering away..ha!
Our troupe was the only batch of Thais staying there at the time, but know what you're saying..1 or2 hotels/resorts, when checking on Agoda's pages DID state Indian Nationals not welcome..or words to that effect, & I thought straight away about them booking a double room, then they arrive in a mini-van..15 of 'em!

My self and friends stopped there last April. Found the place to be great. We drank the last of the large Singha late afternoon but the guy made a special trip to get plenty in for the evening when we said we would be drinking there after a meal out. Unfortunately none of us spoke any Thai so struggled in the local feeding places to find what to eat. The menus were only in Thai, I know, serves us right for not learning more then the basic pleasantries, anyhow back to Xanadu and although a bit late a good meal was served along with plenty of large Singha
