Just a quick appeal for info.
Taking a friend out for lunch in a couple of hours. Some friends (not around to ask at the moment) recommended a seafood restaurant on Cha-am beach. I'm sure I've heard others mention it too. As Cha-am beach is almost as long as the Malaysian Peninsula, does anyone have any more info about this restaurant?
Other recommendations welcome.

Re: seafood restaurant cha-am beach
Last year someome mentioned to us a restaurant called Platoo I think (not to be confused with Moon Smile platoo) which was supposed to be one of the best in that area. We went and it was OK but my thai family said the food was nothing special. Does that name ring a bell ?
Edit : Not sure if it is directly on the beach so maybe not the one as it was over a year ago when we went.

Hello DM think you may be thinking of Rang yen, sorry but closed now till October.
A very good restaurant is Haad Thip sea food. Small place on the beach road.
At the end of Talon Narathip turn right the restaurant is 1k down the road at the side of a hotel.
The best sea food in Cha Am at the moment with a great atmosphere

Re: seafood restaurant cha-am beach
Probably too late but Platoo isn't in Cha-Am town. It's towards the ocean (and right on the beach) opposite the Springfield Golf Course road, U-turn after the Springfield turn off and take the first left, or turn left between the 7-11 and Tesco - it's signposted from there.
The only other seafood (or any type) of restaurant that's directly on the beach, rather than on the other side of the road, are all the way along at the harbour. Keep travelling along the beach front staying right at any junctions and you'll come across them towards the end of the road, park up under the trees before the harbour. If you go as far as the harbour turn right at the T junction and you'll find a couple down there too.

The best Seafood-restaurants are in the Harbour area.
I preffered:
Enter the dirty road, the second left. I attached a business-card, Thai only. No, can not pdf is not allowed.
I do not know the name.
But there are many others you can try.

Hi DM
Maybe it is this thread you are looking for:

If you want to go somewhere else, I can recommend "Sea Zab" on the hospital road (Khlong Thian). In my opinion it is the best restaurant in Cha-Am at the moment.

Thanks very much for the advice, one and all. As it happens, the lunch became a liquid only affair, but having recently moved up this way I can see that there are plenty of eating options.

Our favorite is always Medsai. Beach road north from the center of Cha Am. Stay to the right when it splits and a little further down, where the road enters the fishing village, it's on the right. A sign is painted on the wall
