We left our hotel, and got a taxi to the station. We had to wait for a train to arrive. The train had to travel to the airport. We had to walk to the bus terminus. We had to wait for a bus. At the Hua Hin end we had to find a taxi, and then travel home. No complaints about the speed of the bus, its just all of the peripheral bits that you have to add on. I could have been half way home by the time the bus departed Bangkok.Dannie Boy wrote:Big Boy wrote:What car have you got BB - a Bugatti Veyron? I considered that, but didn't fancy leaving my car in an unsecured car park for a couple of days. I also considered leaving my car at my daughter's house, which is fairly close and walking, but 2 of our party were Thai and have a (genuine) problem walking.tonymaroni wrote:What associated cost travel to and from the bus stop. If you drive your own car you park there in the Bus Station parking lot for free. Can't get any cheaper than that.

The other associated costs included time, trains and taxis.

Let us be thankful that we have a very good alternative for travel to and from the airport at a very competitive price.
I shall continue to use the VIP Bus and be grateful.

The blue buses to the Southern Bus Station leave from Sra Song Road just along from the crossroads at the night market.Homer wrote:I'm curious about that option. Do the private buses to the Southern bus station use the same HH bus station used by the airport vip bus? What were the taxi fares from the southern station to your Bangkok destinations?hhfarang wrote:I would rather take the regular private express busses and taxi from the Southern bus station.
Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
Took the bus both ways - coming in late one night travel was alright; coming back the bus went by way of the extended ring road, where every mother's son and their dog on Petchkasem wants to get on. It takes the best part of forty minutes just to get past the first toll booth.
Wasn't driving this time, took the bus from the airport on a whim after getting off the plane.

Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
If I take the Airport Bus from Suvarnabhumi, it has 2 drop off points:
Drop-off point: 1. Hua Hin Bus Station
2. Bus Stop in front of Bangkok Bank at Cha-am intersection
I'll be staying at Sheraton Hua Hin. Which drop off point should I alight?
Or if the bus can stop at the hotel on the way to Hua Hin?
Appreciate any kind advice.

kodansha: You want the HH bus station stop.
The last time I found myself at the HH bus station there were zero taxis (this is HH after all) and the tuktuks all wanted 100b non-negotiable to go less than 1KM. None of them budged even though I spoke Thai. I ended up in a songthaew that time, but this time I'll be traveling with two big bags so that's not an option I like.
Are there any alternatives to the tuktuks?

You mean I should go directly to the HH MAIN BUS STATION STOP instead of stopping half way at the Cha Am intersection and risk not getting any taxis?
Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
If you are staying at the Hilton, I presume you have a bob or two, then surely a taxi would be the comfortable answer.
However depending on the time you will be arriving in Cha Am / Hua Hin then I would have thought the Cha Am stop would be much closer to the hotel.
Personally I would contact the Sheriton and ask them, because they must have the best experience to answer your question

kodansha: Sorry, my bad. I read "Sheraton" as "Hilton" for some reason. I have no idea about your best option for the Sheraton.

Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
The Sheraton is roughly in the middle between Cha Am and Hua Hin although slightly closer to HH say 10km and 15km from Cha Am. I'd be tempted to book to HH and then ask the driver if he will stop to let you out at the Sheraton - if he won't then it's probably easier to get a taxi from HH back than getting one from Cha Am.

The bus will make no stops at anywhere other than the designated two.kodansha wrote: Or if the bus can stop at the hotel on the way to Hua Hin?

Yes agree with Pleng. They are very firm with the 2 stops only.
You may offer them a couple of hundred bath to stop outside the Sheraton, that may work.
