German tourist, van driver killed in crash
A German tourist and a tour van driver were killed and the two other passengers injured in a head-on collision with a car that crossed the centre line in Sai Yok district on Sunday.

The accident occurred about 6pm near kilometre marker 127+800 on Highway 323 (Sai Yok-Thong Pha Phum) near Moo 4 village in tambon Tha Sao, Sai Yok investigator Pol Maj Sarit Tikhasuk said.

A Toyota Fortuner driven by Chanchai Buakachorn and heading for Sai Yok district veered across the middle line and collided head-on with a Go Thailand Tour Co van heading to Thong Pha Phum district with three passengers, two German tourists and their Thai guide.

Mr Chanchai was injured.

Prasit Boonyiam, the driver of the tour van, was killed. All three passengers - German tourists Thomas Deutsch and Alexandra Deutsch and their guide Jarin Thamrongsupatkul - were injured.

Ridden on that stretch of road many times and it is notorious for dangerous overtaking.

RIP.

I cannot get my head around this. How in the hell can this be called an "accident". Even if the cane truck was parked without lights, it is in an area where those things are on the road every day.
......................................................................................................
Nakhon Ratchasima A passenger van carrying children on school holidays to visit their parents in Bangkok crashed into the back of a sugarcane truck on Mittraphap Road, killing 2, seriously injuring 1, injuring 5 others.

edit: According to the preliminary investigation at the scene, it was found that the road was not very dark because there were lights near the U-turn point, but there was no CCTV at that point, so it was estimated that the cane truck should have made a U-turn but was still in the right lane before attempting to divert into the left lane. Seeing the cane truck at close range, it diverted to the left lane to dodge the cane truck as well. As a result, the collision resulted in injuries and deaths. The children and adults who were in the van initially knew that they were going to take the children to their parents in Bangkok during the school holidays.

I guess it’s called an accident as opposed to a deliberate act - whatever, thoughts with those injured and those who have lost a relative

I just added an edit to my post. Speeding in the right hand lane and a U turn. Also appears that the area was well lit with overhead lighting.

4 killed, including pregnant worker, in van-truck crash
Four people, including a pregnant migrant worker, were killed, and nine others injured, when a van they were travelling in rear-ended a trailer truck on Motorway Route 7 in Chon Buri early Saturday morning.

The crash occurred on the Pattaya-inbound lane in tambon Nong Khang Khok of Muang district, said Pol Lt Col Phudecha Chueman, investigation chief at Highway Police sub-division 8, who was reported at around 5am.

Police and rescue workers rushing to the scene found a crashed passenger van with Bangkok licence plates with its front badly damaged. An 18-wheel trailer truck hauling a container was found nearby.

The van driver and 12 passengers were trapped inside the vehicle and were later retrieved from the wreckage. The driver, identified as Pattaradet Kaew-in, 55, and three passengers were killed, while the nine injured, five seriously, were sent to Chon Buri Hospital.

According to a police investigation, the van was carrying 12 migrant workers from Cambodia and Myanmar before the crash. The workers had hired the driver to take them to Chanthaburi border province for the renewal of their migrant worker cards.

Truck driver Sayen Phalaphon, 50, told police that he was driving along the motorway when the van suddenly rammed into the back of his vehicle, and the brakes were not applied.

Police suspected that the van driver might have fallen asleep. The investigation was ongoing.
