Isn't referring to your woman as 'very young' and then stating that she is 56 in the same sentence a bit of a contradiction in terms.... :? Unless you are taking the piss?

Well Ally old chap,

I couldn't resist to respond to this, so here goes.

Not sure what you are complaining about. In every one of the 44 or so countries I have had the privilege of spending time in, I find that "trophy wives" are desired by all older men with coin.

I don't see much difference between that old guy married to Caterine Zeta Jones, and an older guy married to a younger Thai women.

Look at old Donald Trump and the young and beautiful women he has married.

The only difference about Thailand, is that you don't have to be a multi-millionaire to get a trophy wife. You just have to have an income a lot larger than the average person living in Thailand.

As far as age, I too believe pedophiles should be punished, I'm just not sure what the age is for a young lady. Certainly a women has to be past puberty, but what is the correct age? 14, 18, 21, ?? At different times in history the age was generally around 14 or so. Nowadays, it generally runs from 14 (Brazil I think) to 18 (most of the Western world).

In Thailand, it is not uncommon for Thai men to have wives 20 or 30 years younger then them. I am certainly not going to judge their culture, just because it is different from what's accepted in Europe or the USA.

A younger women in a happy marriage with an old fart, is much better off than two people of the same age in a miserable marriage.

Maybe Thailand is not your cup-of-tea, as you seem fairly judgemental and self-rightous (ever heard of sanuk?).

Still you are entitled to your opinion.

And BTW, I am in my early 50s and have been married to a Thai women for 31 years who is 1 year my junior, so it's not like I'm out after 20 year old women. It's just that I believe if the old farts can pull it off and everyone is happy, then its no business of mine (or yours).

Degustibus non disputandum (a matter of taste, not judgement).

Age differences

Post by THAI ROB »

I agree that seeing some of the fat ageing farangs with Thai ladies does look at bit incongrous at times. I am however 49 myself, although most Thai`s think i am in my thirties, and my long time girlfriend is 26. I met her when she was working at a bar, but she has been fantastic to me with none of the problems that often arise occuring. I agree with the posts that say while young Thai women look even youmger than their age, this processes reverses rapidly when they get to about 40.

Anyone comtemplating a serious relationship with a Thai woman should be aware of the multitude of problems that can occur, and the attitudes of many bar girls. I can recommend the Stickman Bangkok website for this and much other Thailand information. The occasional diamond does turn up though.

Every person is there own individual they make there own individual choices, whether they are Thai or farang. As long as they are not doing anything against the law why should it matter.
I am in my mid 20s and never felt uncomfortable in HH when i have seen an older man walking hand in hand with a younger woman. That is there business. I would really be amazed at your perception if you saw me walking hand in hand down a HH soi with a thai lady say in her 40's or 50's, who is exploiting who now???

Were it a woman starting a thread like this, she would be stampeded to atoms faster than speeding bullsh*t.

Many suspect IT WAS a woman who started this thread and yes - she was stamped.......

Others suspect it was a TROLL - someone who likes to stir it.

I suspect it was a fat assed menopausal jealous frustrated sun reading female troll with sharp teeth and scaley skin.

In alot of ways my Thai relationship is the best one ever

Post by Big A »

I have a substantial age difference with my wife, 26 years. Its great at times to have young gal but at times its no picnic either. There have been serious transgressions on both our parts and I guess that just goes with the territory. There is no way I could have handled this when I was younger, experience and pragmatism definitely counts. I am resisting the temptation to change ladies and am rolling with the flow looking for part time help only.

the words jealousy and Niaivity spring to mind. for a tourist to pass judgement on expats is dumb. If you've not lived here you don't know what you are talking about. your western indoctrinated brain is making judgement on Eastern culture. Stay at home!![/quote]

Hmm, quite profound for a first post, but you put it into a nut shell and are quite correct. Rather than stay at home though, come here and learn. Pete

Age Differences

Post by THAI ROB »

I couldnt believe this post perhaps it is based in jealousy. Seriously i agree with one of the responses made in that any "explotation" as the original poster put it, is probably more likely to be on the ladies part.
Thai ladies invariably look younger than their actual age. To accuse all of such men of the inadequcies he makes is riduculous and ludcriously judgemental. He obviously has a very high horse. Many western men feel diappointed with relationships with women at home due to the absurd demands and expectations of many women. The divorce law judgements in Engalnd today and the disatisfaction at the favourable treatment given to many mothers in the courts has left many fathers and men deeply unhappy. The majority of these man are good decent people who are coming to have a good time and yes enjoy being with sexy young Thai women who make them feel good, rather than overdemanding, loveless women they encounter at home. I am certainly not a misogynist and love women but particularly the feminine caring Thai women.
