Re: Do you ride a bicycle around Hua Hin?
I go out 4 to 5 times a week, usually from 07:00 to 09:00, but on the rare overcast days I have been known to go out for the full day.
Ratchaburi to Hua Hin is my furthest, did it in just under 6 hours.

I do when I'm in town, no serious distances, just an hour around town or out towards Cha Am. It's something I'd like to do more of when I start spending more time in Thailand.
I also take the bike up to Issan and cycle around there which is much easier as there is hardly any traffic.

Been riding the roads around HH since 1987, never had a problem, except the Soi dogs, but I have figured that one out.

Re: Do you ride a bicycle around Hua Hin?
I love going by bicycle around HH every morning for 1-2 hours and almost every evening I go for an one hour trip,Going by the bicycle is a way to come close to people, to observe in a slowly way, to photograph the lovely nature and its people For me its life and make me feel living
Re: Do you ride a bicycle around Hua Hin?
I rode a lot when I lived in California; averaged 150 to 200 miles per week. I rode ten miles each way to work for years and 50 (or more) mile rides on Saturdays and Sundays in the Santa Cruz mountains. Then I moved to Florida and the heat and humidity there put a stop to my riding in a hurry.
Then I moved to a hell that made Florida seem dry and cool... no more riding for me!![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

HHfarang you must live in your own little micro-climate, early morning and early evening are ideal times for cycling. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Maybe time to come out of that closet![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

I raised this one a long time ago on this forum and could never get a good reliable way of avoiding the critters.
I'm a dog lover (Got 10 of my own at the Lodge), but the soi dogs really wreck my attempts at an early morning ride

Re: Do you ride a bicycle around Hua Hin?
When I lived in HH I used to ride out at least 4 times a week. Usually to cha am for breakfast and back. We also used to do that big Buddha statue (i forget its name? Monkol or something?) in a round trip.
Have gone to Dolphin bay and back a few times as well. Usually we (yes we were a band of about 6) would head for a golf club, eat some noodles and then race back like demented ducks.
Dogs were not usually a promlem as with an average cadence of about 26kms the fu**ers couldn't catch us. Lol

Best form of defence is attack, but as you are a dog lover I don’t think you would appreciate my tactics, but I can say it does involve a water pistol of sorts…….

Re: Do you ride a bicycle around Hua Hin?
My problems isn,t the dogs, but some crazy drivers on motorbikes. Some of them are passing me too close, somethimes I feel it,s so close that accidents may happen very easily. So next time in HH I,ll try to get a mirror on my bike, to have the possibility to look behind me
Re: Do you ride a bicycle around Hua Hin?
It's the humidity I guess. In Florida I tried to ride in the mornings or evenings but got saddle sores and rashes in very uncomfortable places from all the sweating. California was dry so I only had problems on the very long rides.HHfarang you must live in your own little micro-climate, early morning and early evening are ideal times for cycling.

Besides, I like my closet! It's air conditioned!

I cycle to work and back daily but even though it is a short journey getting across Petchkasem can be a nightmare at times - definitely not for the feint hearted or those with reaction times slower than a rattle snake. As someone pointed out above it is life in your hands stuff.
The hinterlands though make for some more serene and pleasurable cycling.

Done some riding up their, it's awesome... very little traffic on some decent roads (mostly)STEVE G wrote:I also take the bike up to Issan and cycle around there which is much easier as there is hardly any traffic.
That's awesome for regular excerise, my partner rides to town for breakfast and back, about 20km round trip in the morning (thai vampire don't like the sun much) good time to be riding!buksida wrote:I cycle to work and back daily
