Have you heard of the fake Ferraris ?

Post by Johan »

Hello,

I'm trying to get some informations about this guy who make fake Ferraris in Bangkok, can we get the car registered in Thailand without problems ? I would like to order one but if i can't get any official paper i wont. He uses a normal car and then modify the car to make it look like a real Ferrari, well, for what i heard everything looks like a real one from outside. It's not too expensive and i believe you can also add a "mp3 player" in the engine to make it real too.

Interesting but I don't think you would get road tax or insurance, unless you have good connections..

Here we are with this a day after the government is bitching and moaning about Thai trademark infringement and Thai product copying. It would be sad if not so hilarious.

'Kits' have been available for decades but I believe they cannot show the original model trade name of what the car resembles. If this Thai guy cuts too close to the bone, a ton of bricks will come down on him from the real manufacturers. Pete

The following contact details (translated) were listed in an article on the Danish language website ''BIL Magasinet'' (http://bilmagasinet.dk/article/34954) - how accurate they are, I have zero idea - the article is a year or so old. If you do manage to make contact etc., let us know how you got on

Want one?

Schönes has no website, and Chris would not give his address. Instead, he wants to have contact with customers on telephone +66 81 674 4950 or by post. Email: schones_2000@yahoo.com. Chris Pongpitaya is not so good at English but speaks excellent German.

In the mail that is perfectly fine to write in English when his staff can respond.

He told to a newspaper that it's very difficult to get one of his cars registered in Thailand but it's possible.

Get a copy of one of these Johan if you can, the original costs 1.7 million USD. If you have National Geographic Channel in your home, the show is on this week about how these are made. Absolutely amazing, each and every component and process. A 1001 horsepower engine which really generates over 3000 horsepower, but 2000 go up in flames as heat. Computer controlled top speed of 404kph. True top speed really unknown as stability issues over 404k/253mph. AND.....it's street legal! In my life I've never seen a bio about an automobile like this one. :thumb: Pete

EDIT: I forgot, a set of Michelin's for it costs 17,000USD. At top speeds on a track the 26 gallon tank runs dry in 4 minutes. It was simply mind boggling watching the above show about this vehicle. The Germans seem to have created something from another planet. :alien: :D

Unfortunately Pete, the tyres have to be changed every 4000KM at a cost of £16k and the wheels have to be changed every 4 tyre changes and that cost £30k.

EB have brought out a new model of the Veyron, the SS, a 1200 BHP engine and a different, more aerodynamic body style.

Hurry and get your order in, they are going fast.

Yes, I watched that, Pete. Not sure just how the the Germans now have the name? Bugatti is a very old famous Italian family. I also notice that the address given is in France, but I guess that is the way of modern car manufacturers.

I'm just going to use mine for cruising the chicks in Bangkok. Tires/wheels will last much longer. However, there will be the occasional trip from Bangkok to Chiang Mai in 1.5 hours, or to Malaysia in 2.5.   Pete

My understanding Nereus is that Bugatti went bust years ago and Volkswagen simply bought the name and any existing records/drawings, and set up their manufacturing company in both Germany and France. Pete

Bugattis were Italian people who started a car company in France. Their cars earned a deserved reputation for both highest performance and technical quality. Feeble efforts were made to restart the company after WWII but any post war Bugatti was a pale shadow. Then VW bought the rights to the name and now Veyron's prowl the earth. Saw one in the Rodeo Drive area of Beverly Hills shortly after they were available in America (2005). It was a mid day, mid week so the streets were empty of tourists. Many of the locals stopped and stared just as I was doing.
