Indians Should Exchange Money

Post by Big Boy »

Just an observation whilst walking through Hua Hin earlier today. Has anybody else noticed the exchange rate the Indian Tailor Shops are using on their promotional boards? Most of them are showing an exchange rate of £14 to 1000 Baht. It obviously makes their goods look very cheap, but wouldn't it be nice if we could exchange our holiday money at the same rate?

As they are showing their prices in Baht and Sterling (plus other currencies), I wonder what their reaction would be if you pulled out a wad of Sterling, and paid their display price in Sterling.

I'd love to see somebody try it

Hi, I purchased a suit and spare trousers from one in Pattaya a couple of years ago and he was more than happy to take sterling, at the time he said to me that he prefered this method as he has family and work in England (sizing customers), so a pound is always a pound if you dont need to change it twice.

It was not the use of Sterling that I was really questioning, but how much cloth you would get for your Pound. If you believe their promotional boards, you would get a hell of a lot more than you would for the equivalent Baht.

Seeing as they charge for the suit and not the acreage of cloth, you're already getting a better deal than the rest of us BB!
