Swimming Pools - Hua Hin

Post by Noz »

Can anyone recommend a swimming pool for use by the paying public in central Hua Hin? I know the Hilton offer this as part of their gym package but I'm guessing pricey and I'm not keen on the outdoor (holidaymakers) pool if that's what's included. I see Palm Hills have a good deal but that's maybe a bit too far to scooter every day. Anywhere else centrally and prices please if you know them?

Thanks

We tend to use the pool at Sport Villa - 40 baht per person if I remember correctly (OK, not quite central, but not too far).

Sport Villa me also, but soon going down to the bor fai area (quiter :D ) so would be interested to know what's that side of town. Sport Villa is good if you got kids as they have 2 small pools and lots of kids late afternoon so they play together. Looking for the same type of atmosphere north of town.

Richard has just mentioned a hotel around the corner from Jings (very central) allows non-guests to use their pool - maybe he could share the details with you.

I use Happy Valley resort which is about a kilometre inland of the Klong road, although I'm not sure of the address.
It's a similar deal to Sport Villa but generally not as busy.

Better than Sport Villa IMO, but depends which side of town you're staying at.
It's right on the line of grids B-C, in grid 6 on the HHAD map, there's a little black and white pic of a man swimming: http://www.huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin-area-map.htm

Took the short drive up to Happy Valley Resort this afternoon. 50 baht is the going rate and I would have had the place to myself if I was swimming today. The place was deserted save for one member of staff and a few dogs. I'll nip down to Sport Villa tomorrow to give it the once over.

Thanks for all the above replies.

I'll have to try that one next time I'm back; is it big enough to swim lengths?

Didn't go right up to the pool, I would say very small lengths, not as big as Sport Villa

Palm Hills has a nice long pool for those who want exercise, haven't been for years but think it was only about 50B or so. Food and drink round the pool was normal'ish prices too. Was never many people there.

It's also got badmington courts, gym (equipment was falling apart mind) and some other facilities there. Surrounded by nice grounds too. Not the main golf course club house and not at all stuffy there like some golf facilities.

Palm Hill is good but I think it's 200bt a time now, it certainly went up quite a lot about two years a go.
Happy Valley is long enough to swim lengths and you don't get all the kids that hit Sport Villa in the afternoon.

And Sport Villa has gone up from 40THB to 50THB, effective as of today. Terrible. Just as well it's raining as I've got an excuse not to go.
Palm Hills was great years ago. Virtually no traffic in HH so I'd ride the motorbike, get there and swim 50 lengths - not all at once, but I was counting.
