Buying Chinese Herbs

Post by SWC Expat »

Any place in the area that is a good for buying Chinese herbs? Don't want any prepackaged crap from MV or the likes, instead looking for a real herbal shop if ya know what I mean! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Unless you're buying in Chinatown (Bangkok), you'll have to know the names of the herbs in Thai. Most of the second (or third) generation herbalists upcountry do not read Chinese, much less speak it.

Went through this exercise in another province is how I know.

At the traffic lights on the corner of Chomsin Road and Petchkasem Road, opposite the Police Box there is a shop that sells Chinese Herbs. Looks like a pharmacy from the outside, if you walk into the back of the shop they have a wall full of drawers which are full of every kind of Asian & Chinese herb you could imagine.
