I'm loving it. 'Dave Elvis' the hundred odd year old, one toothed, badly wigged Elvis impersonator, is currently handing out flyers trying to get folk to come to his 'comeback gig'.
Watch episode 1. And if the Dave Elvis bit doesn't have you laughing, you're dead inside!

Anyway, it(S1) was very good on the whole.thecolonel wrote:I was meaning to ditch the language learning element, which is secondary to the main aim of just watching it for 'entertainment'. She's very keen to watch itdtaai-maai wrote:Yes, but even if you can get Thai subtitles, she won't know when they are speaking Welsh and will get totally confused! One or two things I was not quite happy with but that's completely par for the course for me.
Even on my highest rated shows I find myself sometomes questioning the writers/Directors especially regarding endings

T'Pol ...

Looking into BSG ... I'm sure that will be bingeworthy for sci-fi fans.

Me too, usually! Had it on in the background and ended up putting the book down for a minute and watching the show. Enjoyed it surprisingly.

By the way, apparently there's a new series of Strictly Come Dancing soon.

Now... Strictly Come Dancing? I could add that one in the 'Pet Hates' thread. The only clip I've ever enjoyed was of that lump Gemma Collins falling flat on her face.

I’m almost afraid to admit that I quite enjoy Strictly, at least after the first 4 or 5 rounds have passed and the no hopers have been eliminated, although it’s not the same without the “10 from Len” and the lovely Darcy Bussell.

A sci-fi series called 'Away' has just started on Netflix. It's another first manned mission to Mars series and after watching two I'm finding it rather good ... although some of the science is questionable.

AWAY: Just watched the first couple of episodes. I haven't seen much science (though I thought the cable getting stuck in a hinge, and the whack-it-with-a-hammer solution, was a tad basic!), but there's way too much soul-searching for my liking, and I find it difficult to believe they could have selected a team with so much internal conflict and resentment. Anyway, I'll persevere. Something exciting's bound to happen soon...

Agree, episode three was all about Chinese lesbians so ... another one out of the airlock.

Nothing wrong with Chinese lesbians! Now I may have to watch the series......

AWAY: Well, I persevered, though I'm not entirely sure why (and no, it wasn't for the Chinese lesbians!
). I think part of it was down to fascination with how they could make a mission to Mars series so boring in spite of the occasional crisis, inappropriate relationships, family problems (oh, sooooooooo many family problems), health issues - oh God, the list is endless. And the soul searching got worse by the episode. 10 episodes in the series, and I got to the end. I don't know whether to feel proud or ashamed...
