Damn right it's wrong, especially if he now has a felony conviction following him around for the rest of his life. :cuss:

I strongly suggest you watch this(especially the last couple of minutes when the real Tony Martin has a Robert Durst moment) before passing judgement based of what you may have read in the tabloids as this is a verbatim account of his interview.

I'm making an off topic comment about Pharvey's friend Sateeb, nothing else.

As I said before it's a very emotive subject and I have a lot of sympathy for PHarvey's mate but under the rule of Law(UK) one can only exert reasonable force to effect an arrest, shooting a burglar in the back who was running away from the scene, beating the living cr#p out of a scumbag burglar is not considered reasonable in those circumstances. Kneeling on a detained suspects neck for 8 minutes until he is dead is not reasonable, and there but for the grace of God go I in my past life

A conversation for another thread I think. Apologies, I've opened a can of worms on this thread which was out of order -

Righty ho......

Defending Jacob...another slow burner but my o my it's worth sticking with.

The limited drama series is a gripping, character-driven thriller based on the 2012 New York Times best selling novel of the same name by William Landay. An assistant DA's world is shattered when his beloved son gets charged with murder. IMDB

Not out until November after the US elections but one definitely to put into your diary..Brendan Gleeson looks great as Trump.

First look at Brendan Gleeson as Donald Trump in new series about conflict with ex-FBI chief

Irish actor Brendan Gleeson transformed himself into the 45th President of the United States for an upcoming series about the conflict between Donald Trump and former FBI director James Comey.

Showtime announced the two-part miniseries The Comey Rule will air after the 2020 election in November, with Jeff Daniels in the title role.

The first images from the series shows a remarkable likeness from a profile angle between the president and The Gangs of New York and In Bruges actor.

The Dublin-born 65-year-old joins a relatively short list of actors to portray Mr Trump, with Alec Baldwin's impression for Saturday Night Live being the most well-known.

The series, timed to follow the results of the election between Mr Trump and presumptive Democratic candidate Joe Biden, is based on Mr Comey's New York Times bestselling memoir, A Higher Loyalty, plus an additional year of interviews with key players from the events leading up to the 2016 presidential election and its immediate aftermath.

Brendan Gleeson is a brilliant actor - from his portrayal of Michael Collins in the 1991 RTE series "The Treaty" to his role as Liam Tobin in the movie "Michael Collins" and even as Winston Churchill in "Into the Storm" (2009), and then as Sgt. Gerry Boyle in the excellent 2011 comedy-thriller movie "The Guard". Definitely one of my favourite actors, so versatile

Fully agree with all you've said - superb actor, and "The Guard" one of my favorites. :thumb:

I've watched 'The Gathering Storm' with Albert Finney as Churchill (the prequel to 'Into the Storm'). He played the part well. Strange to see Ronnie Barker in the cast.

I'll watch 'Into the Storm' and get a comparison.

"Staged" BBC iPlayer, with David Tennant and Michael Sheen playing themselves during lockdown supposedly rehearsing a play via Zoom. Very topical, and very funny IMO in an understated way. Short and sweet, 15 minute episodes. Well worth a look.

Covid, racial unrest--I dont to watch anything too dramatic--I find comfort in strange choices--Baking Shows, Tony Robinson's archiological digs and perhaps an occasional terribly well-bred and ludicrous murder in Midsomer.

This series may have been mentioned before, but I'll give it a nudge as it's so good. We watched it in Spanish with English subtitles (to try and improve our Spanish), but you can download it dubbed in English. Series one and two are captivating and addictive. Series three is on the same thread, and, although not as clever as the previous two, still worth a watch.

'Money Heist'
A criminal mastermind who goes by "The Professor" has a plan to pull off the biggest heist in recorded history -- to print billions of euros in the Royal Mint of Spain. To help him carry out the ambitious plan, he recruits eight people with certain abilities and who have nothing to lose. The group of thieves take hostages to aid in their negotiations with the authorities, who strategize to come up with a way to capture The Professor. As more time elapses, the robbers prepare for a showdown with the police.

I actually thought 3 & 4 were better, especially in terms of individual acting performances eg Nairobi and Palermo

The Fall, set in Belfast over 3 series (about 18 episodes in all).
A very dark police drama starring Gillian Anderson (Scully in The X-Files). Not a whodunnit because we know who dunnit from the word go. Much of it spoken in very clear undertones.
BBCiPlayer.
