This addiction to Heinz beans is strange to me. Whilst growing up in the UK we always had Crosse and Blackwell by choice. Even HP were better than Heinz IMHO. JD does stock Crosse and Blackwell at they are less than 50 Baht I think. In the UK we paid more for them.

Moi aussi, Brits fervently defending Heinz beans as though they were native fare, :? its a yankee company ferchrissake.

HP beans £1 for 4 cans this week at Somerfield. Postage to LOS might make them a tad more expensive than Heinz at Villa, but for many folks Beanz Meanz Heinz. Oh the power of advertising!

For those of you who do not have the pleasure of knowing "Understudy" as a friend ( as I have for several years) I'll have you know that he is fluent reading and writing THREE languages and quite possibly more. I will add that he is a unique and I would add amazing person to count as a friend.

Further, I think it does not reflect well on this forum to criticize each other's grammar and it has happened on several other threads. It is destructive to communication and certainly not constructive. It doesn't help in building an online community or encouraging participation. That is not what this forum is about and there are many people here for whom English is not the primary language. (I always wish there were more Thai people here and attacking a person's grammar is not the way to encourage this.)

And even for those of us who ARE native speakers, not every thought expressed here need be grammatically correct as long as the idea gets through.( Or is there something in the rules and regs that I missed?) It is much more like a bar conversation where people focus on other things than grammar. Yeah, ask someone to explain if the meaning is not clear, but a misspelled word? a partial sentence? Missing punctuation? Give me a break! It shouldn't be like having a beer with one of those pedants who corrects every word you say. Conversation soon dries up and people move elsewhere.

Villa market is superb BUT you need a big wallet

Can get all my specials which I used to get in BK. Grapefruit, plums and cherries

The variety of goods is stunning

That's amazing Richard. I had always assumed that things such as Grapefruit, plums and cherries would have been readily available in Hua Hin.

I'm not a lover of these fruits, so have never looked myself.

Personally, I couldn't contemplate travelling all that way for a bit of fruit - I'd try something else. Still, each to his own - it must be quite a saving for you.

BB

I don't go up to BK specially to buy my favourites. Just when I'm in BK for other purposes I go to foodlands on soi 5 Sukhumvit

I could ask friends who frequent BK to shop for me but I hate placing a burden on them. I have enough problems doing the things to do when I go to BK. The place knackers me out. Old age I suppose!!! :D

It's a test of the theory that no matter how you arrange the letters in a word, as long as they are all present, an English speaker can easily read the word and the sentence. I think it works. Pete
