Dawn, It’s great you are getting some good news at last; providing work and flights permit, I’ll be back in town by the weekend and will pay HHDRC a visit when it’s convenient for you.

Dawn,

Fingers crossed everything works out for you. Ooy has just reminded me that yesterday (Monday) was a public holiday, I was puzzled why it took so long for you to collect, now I know! We were meant to go to the temple at Wimbledon on Saturday, but she forgot!!!! Will fulfil my pledge next month (car permitting). :)

So far we've had 39,000bt through in the bank account & some extra from WL, the Understudy, Kraka's Dad and TnT. That takes the immediate pressure off, but we still need to sort something so that we get consistent funding, otherwise we'll be here again in a few weeks. Maybe Mark's idea is the way to go, but I haven't been able to do anymore on that, due to my worker leaving & having to do her job as well as my own.

Volunteers, no, I'm afraid not. No-one has come forward.

So, we're still needing help, of all sorts, if anyone can spare some time, money, food, etc.... Thanks :D

Long term Dawn needs people in the shop...Currently there are 4 - 4 hour segments covered out of 14, so many more people needed. The shop can generate over 1000 bart a day so is a valuable source of income....... Where are you long stayers that want to help...!!!! Cat got your tongue?

Can/should the shop be relocated?

Not a silly comment - I hope!

But has anyone considered reviewing this?

What I mean is, its in the old supermarket, I actually always quite liked that place, but last time I was inn HH, it was pretty much on the backburner, the new place wasn't!

Just wondered if you could find a more farang friendly location for gratis/ little money that might put/keep you more in the public eye? Even in the evening as the tourists are doing there rounds - still needs volunteers, I know.

I know, I know, its easy to make such comments 1000's of miles away, but its just a thought?

Migrant. I have found that the most effective and foolproof method of transferring medium amount of money (50 - 500 USD) is Western Union. You have to find a sending bank in the US, and there are many, and pay the bank an amount for sending it to Thailand. From memory 200 dollars costs about 215 dollars to send. The exchange rate is close to mean so very little is skimmed off there. Once paid a Transaction ID is given to you. You will have to send an SMS text message to dawn with the number. She then goes to the bank with the number and her passport and collects the cash in Thai Baht.

The Bank of Ayudhya branches are all Western Union Agents.

To collect the cash you need photo ID with the correct name and the transaction ID so it is very secure and the transfer only takes minutes.
Thanks Guess! It's been a while since I did Western Union, and didn't think about it.

Dawn, please let me know (pm if you like) a way to let you know the confirm # (I could pm you through here).

I'm a CPA so days are filled with endless tax appt's now, but I would like to help, and WU is close by.

Yes, we do. Desperately! And volunteers for the center. I'm still covering the worker who has walked out's shifts & can't get anything done on the fundraising/shop front. I am so scared, that without consistent income, we will go under.
Today the second replacement worker I'd found decided he didn't really want the job, so I'm still stuck in the center, doing a job I should be paying someone else for, instead of fundraising, answering queries, opening the shop or even checking the dogs over for sickness or problems. Please, if anyone knows a Thai who likes dogs & wants a job for 3 hrs a day (9am to midday), paid of course, pm or call me Even by opening the shop (I can do computer work in there) I can raise more than the required salary.
Caller, apart from the key money, which Mum & I paid 3 years ago, the shop is really cheap. We couldn't find anywhere as cheap in a more accessible area, unfortunately.
Migrant, I'm so sorry, I forgot you'd posted, I'll pm you now.

Please, please, I'm still desperate for help of any kind, practical just as much as financial. I can't do this all myself. Thanks.

Just reread your post & I don't need to pm you, do I? Wish my head was screwed on right...

Thank you so much for the offer, Migrant. Western Union would be great! You could either pm me the confirmation number/details or sms me +66 81 981 4406.

Thanks again  :thumb:

Come on people, for christs sake there are lots of you out there that live here and have f**k all to do all day, why not put something back and commit to at least 4 hrs a week, which is bugger all..... Its a charity. giving money is all very good (if your not here, its ok) but why not commit a little bit. What do you do? sit by your pool, get pissed! Good for you, have a good time!!
I have many people buying stuff from the shop, and saying they want to help but its all hot air. ZZZZzzzzzzzzz we need people in the shop and thats the bottom line. SO WHERE ARE YOU?

Dawn, sorry if this sounds blunt, but why not give up on the dogs, get a paid job and look after your child.
Surely family comes first.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but dogs are road kill in Thailand, and that's the way the should be because they insist on sleeping in the middle of the road, they're thick.

Burger

Instead of putting negative comments why don't you try and put forward some positive ideas.

This thread is open for one reason, to try to get help & ideas.

If people disagree with what I'm doing, that's fine. Everyone's entitled to their opinion & I obviously won't be getting any help from those quarters. If anyone wants to debate (what I'm doing & the rights & wrongs of it) with me, please do it on another thread (there are several about stray dogs already) or by pm.

Thank you.

BTW Burger, I don't think for a moment I could actually get a (legal & above board) paying job in HH or anywhere in LoS.
