Yes the rules were greatly eased, although still some stupidness within them. I'll have a look to see if I can find the revised rules.

^ Well that sounds like a barrel of laughs. If rules adhered to (which obviously they are not/won't be) what would be the point of going to a bar?

Only in Thailand - bars allowed open, then alcohol banned for the next three days.
Sounds like fun, no walking, no pool, full ID disclosure, must order food, no groups ... what a great night out.

It's pretty much the same where bars have opened in European countries. If you go with a small group of friends or family, sit at a table and drink or eat, then you can have a similar experience to before but if you want to walk into a bar alone, sit at the bar, play darts or pool etc., that is all gone.

New rules, what a bullshit. In Bangkok at rush hours how many people are travelling by BTS and MRT ? Are they keeping distance ? So why all those rules for bars ? No snooker ? I saw 2 farangs playing snooker at the lobby of a hotel.

Just going through them one by one and I so no evidence of any one of those rules being adhered to.
Strange about the pool. I was told the same story in 3 bars that it had been rescinded on Monday!
Also AFIK, Sat and Sun are alcohol free (2 days). They are the religious holidays, the other two are because they fall on a weekend.

Just as an 'off topic' comparison, I was listening to the new rules for weddings in the UK on Sky News a couple of days ago (Fake or Real News, I can't tell anymore). Some of the new rules were just as ludicrous, and included:
- Bride can no longer be accompanied down the aisle
- Exchange of rings only to take place if hand washing facilities were present
- Vows could only be whispered - no talking out loud
- Congregation could not sing hymns
- Use of woodwind instruments was no permitted
I could go on, but just pointing out the New Normal silliness is not confined solely to Thailand,

This is so ludicrous I simply didn't believe it. What it actually says is "Not in a raised voice". Not quite the same...

People should avoid singing, shouting, raising voices and/or playing music at a volume that makes normal conversation difficult or that may encourage shouting. This is because of the potential for increased risk of transmission from aerosol and droplets.
Therefore, spoken responses during marriages or civil partnerships should also not be in a raised voice.

You have to allow for the spin put on the truth by news organisations in the New Normal
