It could also be that people read the paper and decided to stay away from any wrecking ball activity, and associated protests.

I was there two weeks ago on a weekday and it was hard to get a table for lunch, mainly European families.
I was also there two weeks ago - lovely weather we were having, wasn't it? :D

Unlike UHF who walks on the beach, 5 or 6 times a decade, I walk/run/walk/run on the beach 5 or6 times a week. I use the tide tables and go 2-3 hours either side of low tide. I think it is wonderful, I was never bothered by the commercial activity. It was always a little too busy close to the Hilton, but marriot down to Hyatt no problem.
By the way UHF, the Florida beaches were horrible, what about daytona--- gross. The panhandle was beautiful but elsewhere, horrible.

I speak with one of the ladies working there before they closed, and she said it's for renovating and should take 4 days. Now 2 weeks later she told me they are waiting for for the new stuff to arrive,so lets see how long time before they open,if ever.
Love to sit there with a beer, and enjoy the view and there's always a good breeze.

yes it's was a nice place,hope it's open again.

This article came out last night:

Hua Hin beach vendors get deadline

http://www.bangkokpost.com/most-recent/ ... t-deadline

"Food vendors found to have encroached on Hua Hin beach have been ordered to dismantle their facilities by Monday, Aug 18 and continue their businesses in areas allocated by the authorities that are further away....."

BK post today

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/local/4 ... ach-stalls

'The meeting agreed that stalls will be moved further back from the beach and must not measure more than six metres wide by 21 metres long. The stalls must also leave at least two metres of space along...'

Wonder how long it will be before the defined area allocated creeps

That's big - probably a lot larger than most Soi 80 bars, and a few Binthablock bars.

As long as they leave someone to sell me a bowl of Tom Yum Kung and a bottle of beer on the beach, I'll be happy, it seems an innocent pleasure when you compare it with many of the other things going on in Thailand.

I have been out of town for a few days so just now catching up on a few threads.

I went out this morning to Khao Takaib to the other side of monkey mountain. Empty. No people, no chairs, no umbrellas. Still a couple of walking vendors but there were there strictly out of habit I would say.

BB

Give it 2 months. You won't have to wait a year to see some noticeable changes

Probably - the previous photo trip was 23 March.

[Edit] Maybe 9 months on may be more telling - I'll put it in my diary, and see what I'm doing around that time.
