That works out at B230 a litre, so if it’s drinkable that pretty reasonable by any standards let alone Thai standards!!
Looking at this price, it's quite the surprise! Is it truly drinkable at that price? There's a very drinkable Pinot boxed wine in the UK (Tesco) that sells for £14.50 for a 2.25Ltr Box (B285/litre). I'd always assumed that you would pay at least 2 or 3 times for the same quality in Thailand due to their taxes etc.. I could be well out of touch it seems....

Personally I don't think La Vida is drinkable no, hence why I pay more for Peter Vella(B387 per litre).

Like you I've found that Peter Vella is the closest thing to a 'decent' table wine around.
I keep the red 'bag' in the fridge to keep longer. I pour a glass and let it stand for 10 mins. Then it doesn't taste chilled at all
If you find better let us know

Thanks, yes I do the fridge thing too. Let's see if anyone else has a cheaper offering that doesn't strip enamel from teeth, but I'm not holding my breath.
I find the Mar Sol red acceptable how do you (experts) compare it with Peter Vella? I also do the fridge thing

I'd say they're all barely palatable 'fruit wines' (aside from Mont Clair, which isn't palatable at all), but out of those mentioned, PV is probably the most tolerable in our household. We often buy the large 1.5L bottles that Makro stocks, some of these are slightly better than the boxed stuff, though obviously more expensive.
So much for the gooberment's promise to drop the excessive wine taxes last year. Just back from Japan where wine is about a third of the cost of it in Thailand.

I rarely drink wine so I'm no expert, but re Mar y Sol (sea and sun) I'd also be interested to know. I tried it long ago and think I remember it was inferior to Peter Vela, but drinkable. Price would then be the decider but no idea what anything retails at.

Has anyone found Rose' wine in boxes locally? In the U.K. it's fairly common and of course drinkable from the fridge,
Well, you can always buy a box of red, a box of white and mix them in a glass.
(Which is one of the methods for making rosé anyway).
Blending Method
Similar to how the ancients diluted their still red wines with water to produce rosé, winemakers today also make rosé by blending multiple liquids. However, instead of diluting with water, they dilute with white wine.

In "Today's Thai/HH Wine Market", how much does a mid-range/"Decently Drinkable" white wine cost you (not restaurant prices).
In turn, what (if you can get now) does a case cost at the local vineyard (which I enjoyed a visit to years past)?
A decent bottle of wine here will cost upwards of 800 baht, double what it is in the UK and triple Japan prices - its all to do with those tariffs which Thailand loves.
For some reason, even Thai-made wine is expensive and nowhere near the quality of the imported stuff.

I have now given Peter Vela ( red) a good trial and I agree it is better than Mar Sol - thank you Colonel for your sound advice although my consumption has now increased!!
