Re: Which Mobile Phone?

What about the very cheap shop in Bangsapan that Big Boy supposedly got a genuine Phone over 2000 baht cheaper than elsewhere?
Also what about the places in Market Village that Big Boy and his son saw Samsung phones with big discounts.
Or were they all copies as I suspected

Jealous? You've already confirmed that my wife's phone is genuine, so a very strange comment.

I haven't been back yet to check them out, but they were clearly on display. I'm hoping to be back there again sometime today, and will definitely check them them out.

How did I confirm it? I only tried to determine ways to check my copy against my genuine phone - the battery number in your phone was different to my copy but the same as my genuine. This may be because the battery number is not the same in all phone of the same model?
Homer suggested checking the imei to confirm the phone was genuine. Did you?
Also why would I be jealous? Only curious to know why only you seem to be able to buy genuine Samsung phones at a lower price than the rest of the forum. I am still waiting for you to confirm that the phones you have seen for sale 2000 baht cheaper than widely advertised by the manufacturerare genuine whilst others have only managed to find a 100 baht difference.

Firstly, I don't have to prove a thing. My wife's phone conformed to your verification process - good enough for me.

Secondly, had it only been me who had seen the prices, I'd have put it down to senility - I'm the first to admit if I am wrong. However, I stopped and discussed the price with my son. If the phones are still on sale at that price today, I will take a photo (which you will probably claim to be an imaging problem). If they are not, we'll have to assume they read the forum and have raised their prices in line with your protests.

Personally, I couldn't care less what they cost. I was only warning another forum member that he was being asked for more than the phones were being sold for.

Regarding the shop in Bang Saphan, it is not a figment of my imagination, I know of 3 others who have experienced from the 'less than Hua Hin' prices. However, this isn't unique to phone prices (we have a whole thread on rip-off Hua Hin prices), and I doubt they are unique to Bang Saphan. That particular shop was mentioned because it is close to where the poster asking the question lives.

He obviously does not have your powers of negotiation as he is quoting Siam Phones as the best price for phones or maybe he does not want to buy locally or has yet to look at this bargain shop that bucks the trend of the further from Bangkok usually the more expensive it gets :?

Are you just acting stupid or do you really believe small shops and stallholders are able to offer major branded genuine current model products at more than 20% less than the major stores and agents

No, you do not have to prove anything but I would have thought you would be interested in Homers suggestion of imei checking ( much more scientific than my methods)to ensure you were not conned and bought a 2500 Baht copy (sold with profit in Pantip Plaza Bangkok) as displayed in Market Village advertised at 8000 Baht. You will be able to get good discounts on them I bet

I'll have a look at the aforementioned shop this week and report back though I very much doubt you can buy brand new genuine boxed Samsung phones for less than the market price here. In another shop I bought a Galaxy Win for the mrs which was priced at 8900 - exactly the price on the Siam Phone website.

If you are right, it's a bloody good copy, and I can't see why you would want to buy the real thing.
This is becoming a pointless discussion. I'm reporting facts, and you seem intent on picking fault - I bet your case is is whiter than my wife's case as well - oh no, that's probably because it's a fake :? . I hope you enjoy your expensive 'cheap' Samsung. I'm out of this discussion.

I am glad you are out of this discussion and wish you would steer clear of others that you have no useful input.
This was me making a point that I think you have been conned into buying a cheap copy phone for 8000 Baht.
I has nothing to do with me comparing my phone with your wife's only trying to point out you have not found a bargain but been suckered. :rasta:
Why not just admit that just maybe you have viewed the shop in Bangsapan through newbie rose tinted specks the same pair as you are using in Market Village.
As I have experience of comparing a copy and a genuine Galaxy Grand side by side I am not surprised that your genuine Samsung is superior. The copy though is a usable phone apart from the battery not lasting as long ( I have now found that the battery in the genuine phone does fit) this could be sorted by replacing the battery?
Why were you happy to dismantle you wife's phone to determine the battery but not willing to check iemi both to prove to yourself and also to endorse or slag the shop in Bangsapan. This I would have thought been a very good way to help the OP in his decision to buy.
Or just maybe you already know
My case is black by the way

OK, I was in Market Village earlier, and they were still on sale (as cheap as 7,999 Baht in Banana IT). I've taken a couple of photos, but before I post them, can you confirm that there are different versions of Samsung Galaxy Duos that all look exactly the same? If there are, then I sincerely apologise for confusing people. If there aren't :neener:

"Duos" is just the product range, there are many Galaxy models in this range including Grand, Win, Ace, Core, Mini, Mega ... All with different specs and prices so we still don't know exactly what model you're referring to.

I think Duos refers to dual SIM capacity - could be wrong though.

But if you did advise wrongly, it would have been in innocence rather than deliberate. I'm quite surprised at some of the replies posted by poosmate.

A fair number of different models in the Duos range, and as buks quite rightly says, they (certainly several if not all) have dual SIM capacity. I've been looking at getting one on contract in the UK, unfortunately none of the service providers seem to offer them......

You'll never get a Dual-SIM mobile on a contract in the UK, the carriers hate them.

OK, I'm not a phone snob, but I would guess marketing a whole range of phones, each one looking identical would be very bad for business. Phone snobs wouldn't be seen dead with what could be an expensive or very cheap phone. There are no distinguishing marks as far as I can see.

As an example, here is one of the photos I took this morning:

20131121_103821b.jpg (138.96 KiB) Viewed 923 times
Although you can't see it, the phone on the left was 1,000 Baht cheaper. The only difference I can see is the case colour.

Here's another taken in Banana IT (again, looks identical to me - as does the Grand Duos):

Apologies again for the misunderstanding - I thought Duos was the specific product name.

Yes, it's a genuine mistake and I can see where you might get confused. If you look at the pictures above, the lower one has a 4.3" screen and the upper a 4.7" but it's not immediately obvious until you read that specification card.
