It would absolutely ruin the game and ruin the players to be delayed like that. However, they have their commercial advertisements along the perimeter of the field, either static or moving digital, and holograms actually on the playing surface in some places. They are annoying in the beginning but after a few months of watching you won't even notice them any longer. Pete

Feel my pain...

Actually, until the last 10 minutes I didn't think England were having a particularly bad game. Two defensive errors clinically exploited by the Aussies, and a handful of penetrating attacking moves brilliantly defended by Australia. From 20-3 down they got back to within striking distance and had all the momentum, much of that due to the introduction of Ford, but then it all fell apart. Farrell yellow carded, poor decision-making, general panic and mayhem.

There's no doubt Australia were the better team in both attack and defence. Foley and Pocock were the main driving forces, with the latter singlehandedly responsible for a handful of crucial turnovers at the breakdown.

The Uruguay game is now completely meaningless. A very sad day/week for English rugby - back to the drawing board.

DM IMO your observations are spot on.

The Red Rose are a very good side but would not win the World Cup and may the best team win it.

I agree with you DM and yet another bad yellow card decision given after referring to 4th official.
I thought Hooper and particularly Pocock were outstanding in slowing down the play at the break down, because the ROSE were looking very dangerous but needed speed to take advantage of their decent breaks.

It's now going to be a little boring until the semi finals!

I don't think we can complain too much about the yellow card, though it could easily have been just a penalty, but the interesting point for me was that it appeared to be the TMO who made that decision, not the referee. I'm pretty sure the ref initially said 'just a penalty' and then allowed himself to be overruled by the TMO, which raises the question of who has the final word. I can't imagine Owens not making his own decisions!

The yellow given may have been somewhat harsh, but at the end of the day the ref and his cohorts completely overlooked the deserved yellow for Burgess (in the same move) - he nearly took the guy's head off.....

Even as a Welshman, I feel for Satan's Squad - they played extremely well in my book, but were simply beaten by a more clinical side. Two chances, two taken.......

God's Own are going to be trounced by this team unless we pull something special out from somewhere!!

Sad day for English Rugby and much already said.

The two remaining group games are really a waste of time.

With Wales & Oz already qualified there won't be much to play for...........

As for England's last one - well it's going to take a lot of mental effort to play for nothing.

This hurts - I guess I''ll be supporting the Welsh from now on.

Well just got up late after watching yesterdays festival of rugby. Both Australia and South Africa looked awesome at times and I have a feeling the home nations will have to pull something special out of the bag (PH I agree) to compete with the southern bhoys. Just hope that we beat Italy tonight and then the big one France, a must win game. Winning the group will keep us away from the Kiwis in the Quarters to play Argentina instead, big difference.

^ Hopes are with you - can't see Italy being a problem, and I'd be fairly confident against France. Avoiding the "Blackness" is the big one!!

England were just not good enough - no problems, we're used to disappointment.

To put the tournament into perspective for all the Welshtralians, who have been wallowing in England's defeat:

At least the English know the taste of victory.
