I think you are getting your Fakers mixed up.

The band Faker (featured in the you tube vid) have been going since 1996

Chet Faker is a solo artist with no connection to the above band.

Been listening to Faker since 2008

Never watched the shows but like you, discovered tremendous talent. Uncle Jed and Ella Henderson are brilliant. Also...

Danyl Johnson - Electrifying

Jahmene Douglas - Nervous wreck but sensational performance!

Alex and Sierra - Their transformation from their first audition was amazing. Along with Ella Henderson - guaranteed stars

Ryan O'Shaughnessy - Cheeky Irish balladeer

Been reliving my leather clad youth as a goth biker/rocker and listening to the new Nazareth album Rock N Roll Telephone. Always had a big soft spot for old rock like Nazareth, and its great to hear old Dan hasnt lost any of that gravelly lovliness in his voice.

So here is a couple of my faves

Im a Baaaaad Bad Boy, and Im gonna steeeeel your luv....

and of course the one that I used to do the old twostep dance shuffle to with whatever lady had fallen for my nonsense

and just to prove not all covers are arse, an amazingly good version by a lass whose voice can melt underpants elastic at 40 paces...

phwoaaaar!

Coverville - a podcast of cover versions

Rock, Pop and Country from the 60s to now. A free podcast with 1033* downloadable episodes. Each episode features the music of 1, 2 or 3+ bands. Majority of the show is covers of the featured bands, with the rest covers by the featured artists. Search function lets you find your favorite artists, both covering and being covered.

Themes vary, including artists born in the same month, original versions of songs best know for their cover (e.g., Proud Mary by CCR is best known for Ike & Tina's version), foreign language versions, etc.

The podcast does not have individual tracks. I recommend playing it on a device or app that allows one button jumping forward 30 seconds or so because it's highly unlikely all the songs in a single episode will appeal.

http://coverville.com/archives/category/podcast/

* Yes, one thousand thirty three episodes dating back to 2004.

Where do you guys download your music from? I'm looking for a couple of hard to find albums by a group that only published in the 60's and early 70's. A couple of them are on Amazon, but I was wondering if there are any "cheaper" places that are safe to download from.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Go here and enter your band, then see what they have.

^ What client do you recommend. I tried the direct download from that site and it tried to pass me a Windows executible file, i.e., a virus.

Edit: Never mind, I realized I can't use the same client as I am on Ubuntu which comes with a torrent client pre-installed.

The client can make a difference. However, the best way to be safe on torrent sites is never click anything but the magnet link or the torrent file link. They're often the two least obvious links on the page. I've never had a problem with unintended executables from thepiratebay.org, h33t.to or monova.org

I use Vuze (no reason why you can't have more than one, I suppose) which always been fine for me. As Homer advised, I always click on the torrent file link - avoid pretty much anything that says only "download".
