Although I never saw eye to eye with Dave (clash of personality I guess), he seemed a decent enough lad at heart.

RIP Dave.

You'll be missed.

Thanks to all who attended this evening, tomorrow will begin with offering food for the monks at 11am. The cremation will take place at 4pm with the ceremony starting at around 2.30-3pm at Hua Hin temple.

There will be a gathering at Johnny Walkers bar on Saturday in tribute to Dr Dave, more details will follow.

Hard to realise that we won't see him again. Cath and I were both privileged to call Dave a friend. My thoughts go back to many a night in Hollinwood and afterwards in Daves flat. Foremost will be happy memories of Euro Lambretta in Milan 1997, and the ride their and back. The world is an emptier place for your passing. Dave will be missed by us both.

Firstly I’d like to thank everybody for being here today and showing respect for Dave, I’d also like to thank them that couldn’t be with us, but have sent condolences and kind thoughts. We were asked yesterday to put some words together to say during this ceremony and some of Dave’s friends and his Brothers got together this morning to prepare a few words.

David was born in the summer of 1965 in Oldham, The youngest son of Jean and Bill Boycott. Growing up, Dave’s mission in life was to annoy his three older brothers whenever possible, however he soon found another passion; music. Spending his youth in Manchester, Dave started Deejaying locally, and he became a part of the Manchester music scene that put the city on the map. With influences including Madness, Joy Division and The Jam he soon found his next passion in life; the Mod Scene. Following on from his idol Paul Weller, he became part of this new culture, whose symbol is one we can all associate with Dave, the Vespa.

A twisted ankle during his first try out on the rugby field ended his interest in that sport, and he took to a sport far more safer; racing high powered classic Italian scooters, and hanging off racing standard sidecars trying to maintain a balance for greater speed.

Mods, scooters racing and soul music became Dave, and Dave became “Dr Dave, THE Soul Monstaâ€

Yesterdays service was a complete emotional roller coaster for many. It was good to see so many of Dave’s friends there. Looking around the room afterwards, I will always remember all them grown men, arms around each others shoulders, or hugging each other, or touching a friend on the arm when they were alone with their thoughts, or just shaking hands with pursed lips and a nod of the head at each other. To emotional to utter one word, but understanding each others feelings.

My sincere thanks to all who attended.

Hope to see you all again and more this Saturday at JW’s. Hopefully JW will post details of this event soon.

This is going to be a celebration, lots of Soul Music with happy thoughts and stories of the man to share with each other. Let’s Party, the way the man would have wanted.
