The video has gone viral and the gutless act of the black shirt ring leader has damaged Hua Hin's family friendly reputation. I hope that the Thai authorities monitor this Forum and realise what terrible damage this excuse for a human being has done.
Fancy doing a round armed punch to an elderly lady and knocking her out. In Australia this would be a mandatory 2 year spell in jail, probably more.
I have seen some gutless acts before but this takes the cake.

I refuse to watch this video. But what many folk have indeed commented on, & in their opinion is just as bad as the attack itself.. is the arm-in-the-air act of triumph displayed at the end by one of the attackers.

It's truly shocking. Too awful to contemplate, to be honest. This was nothing other than drunken thuggery, carried out by the usual Thai mob, as seen in videos from all over this land.

So, now it's in the international news. That's usually the trigger for the authorities to do something, Thailand mustn't be seen in a bad light, must it?

I wish the couple and their son a speedy recovery. It was lucky no-one was killed.

^^ Got any evidence for that? What do the police do to farangs that they don't do to Thais? Drunken thugs are drunken thugs anywhere and best kept clear of if possible. What if the victims had been Thai? How much press exposure and police attention would this case get? Not much I bet.

Stop us for helmet violations while the Thai folks go merrily on their way? Fine us for motorcycle equipment violations when there are none? Have us over to blow in the breathalyzer just to have us on? Or as happened to my friend the other night just threaten to take him down to the police department building for a breath test unless he gave them 500 Bt each at which point they shook hands all around and he was on his way.

Those might be the most common. There has got to be heckva lot more.

Cheers!

Wow! I see plenty of Thais treated the same way. Granted being done for equipment violations is a bit mean, especially when so many other vehicles really do have illegal mods. But why would the police want to get rid of farangs when they're such an easy touch? 500 baht to avoid a breathalyser. What if he'd refused to pay? Would he have failed the test?

Hi All

read the thread and just watched the video. Not what I expected.
Take out the drunk shoving a drunk and then the first slap to a face and then a punch are committed by the lady and then her husband.
That is why there will be no case, even though the subsequent level of violence is totally unacceptable.

I have lived in Hua Hin for 14 years and in every case of a 'police stop', I see both Thais and foreigners being pulled over. On balance, I'd say that the bikes and motors that are waiting to be processed at the side of the road are mostly Thai.

On topic, I've just read that the police have named all 4 attackers and arrested and charged 3 of them with causing GBH. What is surprising is that all 3 are out on bail. But I'm sure they'll turn up at court when the time comes!!!

The papers and media in Britain are having a field day with this report. Making Thailand look so bad I am now back in England I can say I feel 1000 times safer walking the streets of HUa hin then the citys of England late at night. Feel so sorry for the family hope they make a full recovery and justice is served. Tried telling people here HUa hin such a great place but people just listen to tv and read papers . love hua hin and the thai people a few idiots making it look so bad.

This story has really gone viral, all over the world. The actions of the Thai thugs in th is video have just crushed the Thai tourism industry for the time being. However, Hua Hin is now seen in a bad light and that is a crying shame.
I have just checked the Australian media and it is the No 1 story today.

I don't think the Thais need any help in making Thailand look bad, they are perfectly capable of managing that all on their own. Probably one of the few things they are capable of, but anyway.....

The press are reporting on a brutal and violent attack on elderly British holiday makers abroad. They're only doing their job. Good to see some Thai media covering this as well, although notably absent from the Bangkok post, so far.

Once again social media has been the catalyst for these reports, long may that continue.
