When discussing Russians - or other nationalities or anything else - one should distinguish between Politically Corret opinions and real life experience. My extensive experiences of Russians have formed my opinions of them. My opinions of Russians are not Politically Correct as they are not formed by lack of exposure to them.

Righteous Political Correctness is very, very nice. Forming and expressing Politically Correct opinions is also very, very nice. However, I set more faith in my own experiences and those of others continually gathering more and more experiences of Russians than I trust the Politically Correct opinions of those who have little or no experience of Russians, just their Politically Correct, very, very nice opinions.

Should I really start telling of my experiences, the Politically Correct might change their opinion.

Nah, on second thought, it's not very likely as one seldom learns but by experience. And, besides, it is not important.

NB. Opinions are not like arse-holes. You have several opinions.

I have recently met two very pleasant Rusian families in HH. They have moved here to get away from the 'unpleasant Russians' that have moved to Pattaya.
I also met a Russian Air-pilot who used to go to P for his lay over stay and now comes to HH for the same reason.
There is no doubt that P attracts a rougher samole from each nationality--lets hope that is the case with the Russians.

That's how the Nice Flight started in Marbella as well; the decent Russians fleeing the less savory element.

How very Politically Incorrect!

At last you (well, those that seem to have some kind of irrational fear of them) have something to thank Hua Hin developers for.... keeping the Russians away. They are the fastest growing visitor groups to Thailand... and they wanna come to Hua Hin... they just can't find anywhere decent to stay!! The YouTube 'insight' thing for our HHAD rental ad vid shows a high number of views from Russia, with bookings=0, enquiries=0 :?

Seriously though, there's no doubt they're flocking to Thailand in their droves last year 644,000 of them visited according to TAT, a huge increase of 91% from 2009. China was the next highest increase and that was only 30%.... Ruskies and the Tiddlies, there's a win-double for all those who dislike rude, queue jumping tourists :D

With such a humungous market you can imagine that TAT, travel companies etc will be going to town with Russian marketing, outside of Asia they are the 3rd most important (number of visitors wise) group, only the Brits (UK & Australia) have more visitors. And that isn't by much really, I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't overtaken already this year. I've read stuff about them liking Pattaya because of the large selection of attractions (sure, for the jack&danny too), so surely just a matter of time when stuff like the following opens around Hua Hin... the waterpark, the sailing/wakeboard park, The Venezia [below], Best Western hotel and the big one we've all been waiting for Botaneo Lifestyle Promenade

SJ

PS: I've only ever known of one Russian and he seemed a quiet, nice enough bloke. He did seem to attract (overnight) a large following of lowlifes... every other Saturday

I'm that Russian agent who works with Room by Room
What do I want to say?
All Russians are different, as well as othere nationalites. I can't say - that's German (sorry for an example), thay are all bad. Each nation has its own freaks.
Pattaya was originally garbage, with prostitution, drunkenness, crime and cheap hotels. Therefore, there come those who want to drink and fuck, while spending a penny.
Or those, who dont have a lot of money for vacations.
I've lived here more than 3 years, have got 2 kids. And I know, that Hua Hin will always be a quiet town with nice people. If the local authorities here will not build brothels and cheap hotels in hundreds of rooms.
All my customers now - pensioners or families with children who want peace and security.
P.S. If the freaks from my country will appear here , then I first go to work in the tourpolice and help to kick them out.

Thanks for that chuck, it's always nice to hear the other side of the story. I agree 100% that all nationalities have good and bad.

Well said Chuck

I hate to generalise and in fact have more, Scandinavian, German, Canadian and Australasian friends than my home country (UK)

As the OP my question was purely out of curiosity not a biased view of your nation

Chuck, when you are next in your office near soi 80 pop into the cafe door and ask for Richard and we can sit and have a laugh and a chat. I know at least 2 of your agents

Maybe the new Russians are going to take the place of the loud, rude, American travelers! Now if they will just start wearing Hawaiian shirts and gym shoes everywhere, we won't look so bad! :D
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
