Don't these concrete posts still carry telephone cables? What do you call them?

His Thai g/f. She showed up and said he was 'mao' every night.

Terrific. So if I now defend myself against some of your incorrect comments, I condemn myself.
Being relentlessly subject to personal attacks can make you a touch combative. People have a habit of focussing on what 'kind of guy' you are, rather than the subject matter.
you just keep rattling on and on until the other guy gives up.
Come now. I was 're-iterating', because valid points were NOT being acknowledged, just as you are doing here. I was obviously correct to do so since members started to concede the points. As you have done.
Generally, I do 'rattle on'. What can I say? Nobody's perfect.
Yes, you do make some good points, but all I was trying to point out is a couple that are a little lame.
Thank you and my apologies for not giving this due weight. I agree. The type of injury, the fact that he's 19 and the car is a high speed vehicle, are all presumptive of guilt. I already acknowledged that 19 year-olds like to speed, so am I really that far away from you?
If you want to continue to assert the driver was only doing 120 kph and that speed would tear a person's body in half there is not us trying to convince you otherwise.
I didn't assert either of those things. I reported what the driver had claimed, as did steve. That's not the same as accepting it.
I also said... '
I would expect the car to be in a far worse state had it been travelling at a higher speed.' Which is not the same as 'asserting' 120 kph would tear a body in two.
It is you that is providing these emphases.
I will continue to assert that he was driving at a much higher rate of speed, and that higher rate of speed is a determining factor of why this particular accident bothers me enough to continue this thread......
A perfectly understandable point of view.
If you're going to give the rest of us grief for speculation and erroneous assertions please hold yourself to the same standard.
It is not an 'erroneous assertion' to report the driver's claims. He made them. Nor do I need to prove anything he says. Having offered his defence, the onus is on others to
dis-prove them.
I accept your criticism about her looking the other way but did make it clear it was speculation by saying 'probably'.
Finally, for this morning anyway, you really get my goat with your claims that you know what everyone else would do given a particular set of facts......like your assertion that no-one will be checking this thread in a few days, including me. I read every post in threads when I'm interested in them because the forum relays a notice to me that another post has been made......and I DO pay attention and read them. You should quit telling us all what we would do....as you don't have any idea of even what you would do until reality strikes.
On the first part, this sounds rather petty because you are pissed at me not wholeheartedly joining the lynch mob. On the second, I didn't '
tell you all' what to do. I posed it as a question.
And I really love that picture of him reporting to the police with his two friends or relatives.......a nice theatrical touch.........yuk!
Please don't take this the wrong way but I am curious as to whether the reaction of the mother will make any difference to how you feel? Do you think she was wrong to settle? Or to forgive him? Were the 'hugging' and 'tears' staged too? Do you accept that this way of dealing with it is legitimate?
Or is Thailand 'corrupt' and the rich 'twats' for avoiding serious penalty?
