Re: Torrents
Someone gave me a new, LG Ultra HD 4k 65" Curved LED TV, as a thank you present. It's been sitting in the garage in it's box for 6 weeks.
The thing is, I would like to try to download some films to watch on it, but don't have a clue about torrents etc.
Is it legal to download these films and if it is, which is the best torrent site to use and also the best site to download films from?
Be gentle with me, as it will all be new to me.
I do know how to format a USB stick though.

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Re: Torrents
^ Firstly, I'd suggest downloading "BitTorrent" - this is a file manager for your torrents and will as default download/control files. http://www.bittorrent.com/
Then, go to the likes of http://katproxy.bz or https://yts.to/ to pick the movies/shows/music etc you want. Simply download the "Torrent", and BitTorrent will do the rest.
Any other questions, just ask.

Re: Torrents
Khundon, no, it is not legal. I think the 11th Commandment (Thou shalt not get caught) is relevant here as with many other activities that are also not legal.
The bigger problem with your TV is that it's impressive spec will not be well served by many of the films you can download from these torrent sites. Very few films are being delivered in 4K and the file size needed to present that format would be huge. Your TV probably 'upscales' HD to Ultra HD by cleverly adding additional information to the video stream but you're best off with a blu-ray player and good quality disks at full HD rather than a ripped movie that has had the bulk of the information stripped from it in order to make it a small enough file to share.

Re: Torrents
Well, J.J.B. I've broken the other 10, so, in for a penny, in for a pound.
We already have a TV (PANASONIC VIERA Smart 65" LED TV) which, having looked through the inch thick manual, is not 4K and a Blu Ray player, which I use to watch Blu Ray HD films, on CD's that I have bought.
So It looks like the present, can stay in the box for now.
I will download a few films and try them on this one instead. That will save me having to drill the wall and fitting another bracket, to hang the new TV on.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Torrents
Using the info from GLC and Barry I've downloaded a few 3D movies, especially animated ones for my son, however, my LG TV came with 4 pairs of adult sized 3D glasses, anyone know where I can buy a kids pair/small size ?

Re: Torrents
Yes, it was a gloomy day yesterday morning when I discovered it was off. She (YIFY/YTS) has been a close friend for four or five years. She knew me well. She would read my emotions and offer such a movie as to compliment them. I've not felt such heartache since The Ultimate Warrior lost unfairly to Sgt. Slaughter in January 1991's 'Royal Rumble'.JamesWest wrote:yts.to now down for 24 hrs plus.

Every morning from now, I shall start my day with a minute's silence in memory of YTS.

Or use these search terms: yify YYYY at your favorite torrent site or at http://torrentz.me/, which searches many sites. The YYYY is optional.hhinner wrote:^^ Shhh! Don't tell everyone. yify-movie.com.
(where YYYY is the year movie was released)
