He assured her that she will never have a problem entering the US in future and should there be any questions, to ask for a supervisor and refer him to himself.
Good for her! As both Migrant and myself have noted, ask for a supervisor. None US people probably cannot get their heads around what it means in the USA. The nearest equivalent here may be "losing face"!

Flying to thr U.S within the next few weeks. I will need either a rapid test or preferable PCR test. Wher is the best place to get either or both of those in Hua Hin? Thanks

My daughter got her 'rapid test' at San Paolo. Results in under an hour with certificate. 500 baht (I think).

An rt-pcr test is almost impossible to get within 24 hours of flying (US requirement).

I recently needed to get a PCR test result to catch a flight within a 48 hour window.
Hua Hin does not have the ability to get a result back on the same day.

The only place I found was in Bangkok.

2,500THB for a result within 8-12 hours
3,500THB for a result within 3 hours

I was supposed to be flying out today but failed the pre-departure PCR test. Two of my partners friends have had the same problem recently trying to fly from the UK.
The company nurse has told me that you can fail a PCR test up to 6 weeks after an infection and there has been a lot of Covid around Europe in that time.

Sorry to hear that Steve, how have you been feeling in all that time?

You don't need a PCR test for the US. Just the 'Rapid test' taken within 24 hour of flying.

Forget the PCR - takes time and is expensive.

On another note. Just picked my daughter up from the Airport Bus and it does appear there is an increase in visitors/returnees etc. Her flight from Doha was full as was the airport bus!

Absolutely fine and have been working throughout. I also passed two antigen tests last week and two since the PCR test.
I've managed to get credit for the flight and the Covid insurance is refundable but the hotels are not so that is about 10,000 bt gone.
I can live with that but I now have 3 weeks vacation alone in cold and rainy Europe!

Good and bad news then. Is it not possible your PCR was a 'false positive'? Seesm the most likely explanation.

If its any consololation, HH is cold and rainy right now. Thunder predicted overnight

Could you spend your 3 weeks in Southern Italy, Greece or Spain? Warmer, dryer there.

Did you try a second test? I have read about incorrect results at times

That's not so easy because all the test results here go into a central system and you instantly get issued with an isolation notice which is going to come up if you try and go for another one when you're supposed to be in quarantine.
Also I decided that I was unwilling to risk failing on arrival in Thailand which would have been way worse.

To be honest, I can't be bothered with being in a hotel by myself with all the present restrictions. I might go to England for a week where you at least have the pubs open as a traditional refuge from misery!

Sounds like a good choice, at least you can walk around and go to a pub and restaurant.

Dropped my daughter off at G resort for her day 5 PCR and quarantine. She asked in advance whether she could take her 4 year old daughter in with her. "Sorry, that would break quarantine rules". Her daughter's been sleeping with her for the last 4 days!!
Also, unlike The Lancaster in BKK, after checking in she was told to make her own way to Bangkok Hospital and join the drive-thru testing. (not drive-through at all) There she had to wait her turn along with a couple of dozen other farangs then make her way back to the hotel!!
