Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
Morning all from a wet Sydney, normally I apply for a TR visa for a 6 week stay, download visa form, bank statement copies etc. post all the the Thai embassy. A bit confused with this now 45 day stay. Should I do the above for my stay? Or can I just travel to BK with just my passport. Roll up at the immigration counter at the airport? If so what do I need to produce? Many thanks
Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
If your stay is less than 45 days just roll up at imm counter at the airport.

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
Is it a 30 day extension, or did that also rise to 45?

As far as I’m aware it’s only 30 days, but I’m off to immigration Thursday or Friday so will find out.
Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
I don't know, I had just assumed it was 45, but have nothing to base that assumption on.

Visa Exempt is now 45 days, however an extension is still only 30 days. Hope that helps.
It's all good ![Cheers ](./images/smilies/icon_cheers.gif)

Expats get online visa extensions
Expats get online visa extensions
https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... extensions
The Immigration Bureau (IB) unveiled its Electronic Extension of Temporary Stay (e-Extension) service on Tuesday to make it easier for expats to apply for visa extensions.
Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittiprapas, the national police chief, said the e-Extension would enhance visa services as the system lets them lodge the extension request online.
The service covers the whole process including the payment of fees via a dedicated website, Thaiextension.vfsevisa.com.
It will reduce the time to process the application from one hour to three minutes, Pol Gen Damrongsak said.
According to the IB, over 200,000 expats seek to extend their visas each year for about a dozen reasons including taking holidays, teaching jobs, studying, working at a state agency or due to family ties.
The growing number of applicants spurred concern about the time-consuming and inconvenient nature of the process.
The e-Extension service will be piloted first for expats living or working in Bangkok.
They can file an application online at the cited website.
However, they must show up in person to verify their identity and get a visa sticker at the IB office on Chaeng Wattana Road.
The IB plans to make the service available at all IB offices nationwide in the future.

A step in the right direction but surely immigration won't like it as it eliminates the chances of "agent fees" and "tea money".
Additionally, it'll take them 5 years to get the software working if they build it on the same platform as the online 90-day report.

Changed from marriage to retirement yesterday.handdrummer wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 12:25 pm If I have 800,000 bht in a bank fund, for 3 months prior to my visa renewal, can I change from marriage to retirement this year, or do I have to wait a year until the money has been in the fund 3 months before and 2 months after the renewal date?
Needed only 1 copy of everything, including a photo.
3 new rules, not on the rules sheet I got from BluPort:
1. Being married, I had to produce a copy of my marriage certificate, in Thai and English and show the original.
2. Copy of wife's ID card.
3. Bank book must be updated no more than 2 days before applying for the visa. The letter from the bank can be dated earlier.
Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
Looking forward to being able to do the same in a couple of years.
No idea why they'd want the marriage cert in English when a copy of it in Thai is what's required for the marriage visa. The consistency of inconsistency ... TIT.

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
I've always had to produce the Thai and English versions of my marriage certificate.
Also, what doesn't make sense, (what does?) is wanting the marriage certificate for a retirement visa.
I always go with a briefcase full of every possible document they could want.
One year, when that idiot was at the desk at the door, inspecting all of one's papers before being allowed to proceed to the next layer of Dante's Inferno, he didn't like my drawing of the map to my house and proceeded to draw over it, adding every lane that was missing, until the map looked like a child's scrawl. I've used it ever since.
Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
I've never had to translate the marriage cert, just a copy of it (front and back) suffices, likewise with the kids' Thai birth certificates. Do you still need that pointless letter from the amphur office?
Don't have the problem with the map, we live in the middle of nowhere and immigration hasn't got a clue (they certainly don't want to make the home visit that they're supposed to for this visa type!)
Another advantage of the retirement is that you don't need to make two trips - it is done then and there.

I've only had one visit to authenticate our existence at this address.
Also, with the retirement visa, there's far less paperwork. Of course, everything can change overnight.
