I think you'll find that, apart from the recent 2-day period of problems everywhere, most of this thread relates to the supposedly super-fast fiber optic cable connection.

I've had a standard 10Mb 3BB connection for some time now, and it's okay for me most of the time. On the rare occasion there has been a disconnection, it has been due to a line down somewhere and has been sorted out in good time.

Better would be good, but I'm not complaining.
Yet.

I would agree.
My home is a little out of the way and 3BB were the only company to entertain providing the service, probably because my neighbour had already blazed the trail, with them some years previous, and the cable was in existence.
I also use the 10Mb package and so far, so good. Some weekends, there can be deterioration in speed but for the most part the service has been very good and when I have had a problem they have sorted it out very quickly.

OK guys, this thread had drifted, and most were talking about the super fast fibre optic service. I agree, my 10Mb service has been excellent.

I'll ask the question again: Is there anybody out there getting a decent service from this relatively new 3BB 30Mb Fibre Optic product?

SO CAN WE PRESUME THAT NOBODY WITH 3BB FIBRE OPTIC IS HAPPY?

I asked the question 5 months ago, and nobody claimed to be happy with the 3BB 30Mb Fibre Optic product.

I have some friends who have recently had the 3BB 30Mb Fibre Optic product installed, and they are having problems similar to those described in this thread i.e. doing a OOKLA Speedtest check, top speed is generally in the high 20's Mbps, but it suddenly drops 2 Mbps or less on a regular basis.

My new question to you guys who have this service, did 3BB eventually put your service right, or are you still suffering? If yours was fixed, how long did it take, and are there any tips to getting it fixed?

One additional question please, what range does your modem have? My friends when their modem is giving them 20+ in the direct vicinity, are lucky to get 4.5 just 20' away - is this the norm? Have any of you fixed this problem? If so, how?

My 30Mbps friends can't watch Expat TV comfortably because they need 3Mbps. It keeps freezing. I'm on the 10Mbps service and rarely have a problem.

I've never had a problem with this.

I have the same 10Mbps package, but it seems to have been unusually slow for the last week or so.

I've actually asked the question, trying to find out if my friends have a bad installation, or if the service is relly still that erratic. Depending on the response, you might be better holding off for a while - why fix it if its not broken?

because i am moving to a new house and assumed the fibre optics was superior.
Are you saying it isn't..seems ridiculous that a fibre optics service won't be a better a product
Am i better to hook up to the 13mb product??

I don't know - that is why I am asking. There were significant problems being reported 5 months ago, my friends have just been connected (a couple of weeks) and they have similar problems. I am asking on their behalf to try to work out if theirs is a bad installation, or whether they have to wait for it to be fixed with everybody else.

Of course, it will be far superior, but like most new technology, teething problems are not unusual.

The last couple of days we have had problem with our 13mb line. My wife has called twice to 3bb and today they informed that they have some problems with their internet lines in the Hua Hin area. No more info given, but they are hoping the issues to be rectified tomorrow Friday 14th. March.
