To be honest, if I'm eating fish and chips, the last thing I'm worried about is peas, however they are prepared.

Awww, the juice from the mushy peas soaking into the crispy batter and chips - heaven.

C'mon, behave yourself - you're making me hungry, and I don't do hungry any more
If it done right, you can enjoy the culinary contasts of crispy batter and mushy soaked batter, complimented by crispy pea flavoured chips.

Sorry to hijack this, but easy as your all here, went to Thai Sweet Chilli last saturday night for Steak Pie and mash..... now that was to die for. Check them on Facebook - you need to order day before and its cooked to be ready for when you arrive.... guys you need to do this . BB if you go I would suggest that half of the pie would be more than enough.... its a whopper.

I'm salivating. Are such peas available in HH or do I have to visit your mum?J.J.B. wrote:They are a different variety of pea (marrowfat) that are usually stored dry and have to be soaked overnight in salted water (at least that's what my mum used to do) and then cooked in water with a little sugar and served with a knob of butter in order to get them really mushy. The result is like a very delicately flavoured and exceptionally lumpy pea soup.

I'm told that is a suitable alternative to salt water...Homer wrote:I'm salivating.

Re: new cafe soi 102
I doubt it but it's well worth enquiring whether JD at Hua Hin Ham & Bacon can get some imported? They are dried peas so won't weigh too much, it's just a question of whether they're worth it vs. the easy availability of them in tins.Homer wrote:Are such peas available in HH...?
I'm sure my mum would welcome a visit. Yes, I probably should do that some time...

My wife, who is not the best of navigators, went looking for the place today but could not find it and was not prepared to continue along the road as it was getting dark. She went as far as what appeared to be small cattle "ranch" and then turned back.Homer wrote:Farang wrote:Cafe 99 definitely is the place to visit. Unbelievably good food for 99 THB!
I love a good map.
Next time someone is up at the location and has GPS, they might note the coordinates.
Do they have a phone number?
