I think I'd be more inclined than MLS to accept Name Taken's view on street cleaning, but at the same time I'd be asking how much local and national tax he pays in Thailand.
Mind you, I don't recall Name Taken ever saying anything positive about Thailand!

I have found Eva to be above the cut airline as in better then the norm in most regards. OTP seems good as does upkeep of the aircraft. Drawbacks were that the seats seem smaller due to the Asian Population? So not as comfy IMHO. Food so so again maybe slanted towards Asian but still all and all just airline fare rubbery but it fills the hole. Staff above par in all aspects.

Gosh, I can't be getting out enough when I'm in Thailand as I don't experience those inconveniences that Name Taken has to endure. I spend my time there pretty much unmolested and can't say I notice more dirt in the streets than in most other host countries that put up with me. Hong Kong has its own share of touts, as does Bali and many other tourist and resort areas, and I see relatively little roadside trash compared to, say, the Philippines. And don't talk to me about being accosted by undesirables begging, selling or scamming something or other in the (often dirty) streets of London - it's all too common an occurrence. Gotta say Thailand, in particular Huan Hin, is a breath of fresh air to me. But then again, I don't hang out much in the Bintabaht area of a night time, which is where I guess most of the harassment occurs (?)

I've used Eva lots of times but do prefer Thai air, I've found Eva to be tight fisted when it comes to giving out drinks, Thai air also seem to have more staff on duty at a time, I have a Dvd player with a 6 hour battery life so am not fussed about back of the seat entertainment. Would like to try BA but they are way too pricey.

I haven't read through all the posts so I don't know if Singapore Airlines has been mentioned. For four years, while working month on month off in the UK, I was flying to Thailand every time I had my month off, so of course I got to try several of the different airlines, and basically my thoughts are......



The worst one I flew with was Lufthansa.
BA was okay, but nothing out of the ordinary (sorry folks) so just not worth the extra cost.
Air France also wasn't special, and a long wait at what can only be described as the most boring airport in the world put me off for life.
South African airlines was nice, but as with BA, they're a bit costly and nothing out of the ordinary.
Singapore Airlines I found to be the best, including stopovers at the airport in Singapore.

All in all though, and this might come as a shock, I chose to stick with Turkish Airlines. Service, food and etc are no better or worse than the big name carriers, and the tickets are far more affordable, even if you buy them directly from the desk in the airports.

Is their safety record OK, and are they primarily an Airbus or Boeing fleet? Pete
