Rach, You are going to fit into this forum nicely indeed!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I find it quite amusing that someone, who has been in Thailand for a couple of weeks, is telling the management of a listed Thai company how to run their business.
Major Cineplex Group (MAJOR) 2008 revenue was app. 5.7 billion baht, with a profit around 700 million baht. So it seems they know, what they are doing.
But here we go again with the inflated opinion of selfimportance among expats.

Rachel, by the way, welcome to the forum.
thaiorchid,
Although others have already responded to you, I feel that we, the people behind the petition, should also respond. If you read the petition itself, this has nothing to do with expats versus Thais, nor even anything against Major Cineplex as a company, as it is made clear that this is a local issue involving everyone living in or visiting the area because virtually all other Major cinemas in decent sized towns and cities show movies in their original soundtrack, and particularly those catering to tourists. We believe that the Hua Hin Major could make money by showing movies in their original soundtrack as well as their regular offering, as well as properly advertising the times and dates of the showings, something that AWOL would do for nothing. Major as a company already practice what we are petitioning for in other places, so we are perplexed and frustrated that they don't follow the same successful business practice in Hua Hin.

Thanks for the welcome and the stunningly accurate character summary.
(have you been reading my mail, you little minx? )
Dearie, I may have only been in this country for a couple of months (this jaunt) but I have been walking the earth for (oh let's see now.....) a jolly long time. I am able to form and express opinions on a number of different things. Scary trait in a woman that, isn't it?
Hope you have a beautiful day, I'm sending you another ray of sunshine to add to your collection.
hugs
Rach xx
Good response, ladyarkles. There was a chap around a while ago called LANative who could have learned a lot from you.
Rach.
Even with me at the other end your postreply made me chuckle. Good sense of humor and maybe, just maybe, you had a point.
Just a shame that your newfound groupies had to bring it down to a level all to common on this forum.
As you might already have found out: I am not the "flavour of the month" around here.
The easiest way to achieve that, is posting oneliners about nothing and add plenty of smilies.
Don. Post 44 and the flowers are fading even more.

Went to see Avatar last week at the market village, what a relief they actually had the movie in soundtrack. The movie was great but there were only 10 people and there were no farangs at site. Lucky for the thais it had the subtitles in thai. For all of you who complain, remember when major cineplex at market village started they actually had soundtrack movies but over a time the crowd was smaller and smaller and eventually they stopped showing any soundtrack movies. The only way to get it started is by going there and asking if they is any sound track movies. If a lot of people enquire at the counter everyday perhaps they will see the point. Once they start remember to go to the shows regularly and stop buying cheap pirated DVD's in the grand night market.
Can anyone who has been to MV confirm this please + showing times if possible. My wife would like to see this. I would hate to drive 15kms to find it is in Thai.I do not believe the website anymore.
Thought you might be interested to know that we got a Central Plaza last year, with SFC Cinemas that shows films in the English sound track. There were already two smaller malls in town with cinemas. All the soundtracks were Thai only.
For a mid-sized town, regional center, Khon Kaen is about as "upcountry" and provincial as you can get. There isn't much falang tourism, and the expat community is spread out, so we are lucky to get the English films. Obviously, it is a corporate decision coming form SFC. If there is a market or a justification for English sound track out here in the boonies, certainly that goes double for Hua Hin.
Hope the petition prevails, I would like to come to Hua Hin someday.

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.
Hear what you say and have been to the complex. too big for me.
But isn't it true that you have many non Thai up there particularly Japanese?
The Uni will surely have many foreign students too

Richard.......how I have missed your ramblings
You must have been left out too long and are now talking to yourself.
This thread is not about Japanese schoolgirls unless they are portrayed in a film at Market village. Don't think I have seen any there. Maybe Sandman will point you in the direction where he usually downloads from
