Filmed over a 10-year period, Making a Murderer is an unprecedented real-life thriller about Steven Avery, a DNA exoneree who, while in the midst of exposing corruption in local law enforcement, finds himself the prime suspect in a grisly new crime. Set in America's heartland, the series takes viewers inside a high-stakes criminal case where reputation is everything and things are never as they appear.

I just finished the series on Netflix and it really sucks you in. If you have the time, give it a go. If you like true crime you will be hooked after the first episode. You can watch the first episode on YouTube.
Thanks Arlo.
I watched episode 1 on my laptop in the afternoon and I thought that was story over........ended up last night watching episodes 2-5 and only stopped there as it was midnight! More viewing tonight.

Yes its a good one! A lot of talk about it on social media also. Let me know what you think when you get to the end of the series. Guilty or not?

I find it difficult to look at the State Prosecutor, Kratz ? without thinking of a UK comedy series called Phoenix Nights as he is the double of Peter Kay playing Brian Potter.

Thanks for posting this, Arlo. I'm not sure I'd describe this as a thriller, but it's certainly gripping and compulsive viewing IMO and a glimpse of the dark side of small town rural USA. It made me quite angry and indignant at times.

In all honesty, I have to say that I got the distinct impression that the only people who had any real grasp of their job and their responsibilities were the 2 defence lawyers in the principal Avery case. How the boy Brendon was found guilty escapes me completely, but how all his appeals were refused is even more appalling. Innocent or guilty, this was a comprehensive indictment of the US legal system and a classic example of how there is one law for the rich and another for the poor and of the perils of trial by media.

I could write reams on this fascinating and horrifying series, but I'll spare you... I do strongly recommend watching this, however. You can download it from a number of sources.

I agree about the thriller part, that came from imdb.com. It's hard to believe that is even a true story. Makes me curious how many other people have had the same experience but no tv crew documenting their story. Since this series came out a juror has come forward saying they don't believe Avery was guilty but the jurors were scared at the time to say he was innocent. I guess living in that small town and having to deal with the police at a later date made them vote guilty.

This recommendation comes from left field as our cousins across the pond might say. Not my usual cup of tea.

Brooklyn Nine Nine.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an American police sitcom that airs on Fox. Set in the fictional 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn, the single-camera series follows a precinct team of detectives and a newly appointed captain. It premiered on September 17, 2013, as part of the 2013–14 American television season. The series' premiere garnered 6.17 million viewers.

It won two Creative Arts Emmy Awards, and two Golden Globe Awards in 2014: one for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and one for Andy Samberg for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy. On March 7, 2014, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on September 28, 2014."

The episodes are short, sweet and - IMO - very funny.

This one is for the techies ...

Mr Robot
Follows a young computer programmer who suffers from social anxiety disorder and forms connections through hacking. He's recruited by a mysterious anarchist, who has plans to bring down the biggest company on the planet.

Loved it, life back in the black box!

TV series worth downloading

There is no doubt the producers if this lead viewers in one direction, but you only need to watch and listen to the evidence of the 2 defense lawyers to understand how shocking some of the evidence is.

The way Brendan Dassy was manipulated into admitting something he clearly was not involved in, just so that his case could be used to further screw Avery is .....not sure I know the word....scandalous beyond beleif.

His own defense lawyer and his inspector were trying to frame him for something so serious that he clearly did not do.

The whole blood in the tube and the FBI involvement, the calling in of the missing vehicle, complete lack of the deceased's DNA in Avery's house, the missing DNA on the car key found in Averys house on the 3rd search missing, the list goes on and on.....

Gripping TV, I did 10 episodes over a 2 day period. A must watch.

I don't thing this story has ended yet somehow.

Just what story would that be?

Another new post invasion show started last month called "The Colony". So far it's been fairly enjoyable. It's more focused on humans who have succumbed to the control of the invaders vs the rebels who haven't fighting each other rather than the visitors themselves who so far have only been represented by flying robots keeping an eye on their conquests.

It stars Josh Holloway, who you will recognise from "Lost", and Sarah Wayne Callies who you will recognise from "Prison Break" and "The Walking Dead" along with a few familiar faces from other TV roles.

Here's how tv.com describes it:

"Partly inspired by the Nazi-occupied France of the 40s - COLONY is really an intriguing thriller - shadowy conflict and espionage framed by a dystopian future.

Set in a bleaker future on an Earth conquered by alien forces, Colony focuses on one family amongst the splintered people of Earth in an occupied LA region. Two kinds of people form: those who take the easy path, choosing to collaborate with the aliens in order to gain small favours; and those who try to resist the occupation, forced into secret communications, finding only trouble and hardship. At first the resistance is only aware of their own small area in LA, but as the show progresses the network of resistance widens, and people start to find out what is going on in the greater world."

Speaking of The Walking Dead, the new season started last Sunday and the first episode is action packed!
