Re: Car Challenge?
Reminds me of an elongated Reliant SS1. The five stud wheel pattern suggests what's underneath is a larger car though - Based on Jaguar ?

Re: Car Challenge?
You have to know your PCD from your offset and your bore in this game.
It was a bit of a guess, but something made me think Jaguar, maybe just the long wheelbase, but I'm afraid that's all I've got, unless we can narrow it down to XJ40 as the base car which would be mid 80's onwards?

It's a car of the 70s and this particular designer did have hand to play in the XJ seriesFrank Hovis wrote:You have to know your PCD from your offset and your bore in this game.

This car started in design in 1972 and the car in the picture was produced in 1974. One of a vey limited number as it never went into full production

Is the convertible hood and windscreen from an E-Type ?
Re: Car Challenge?
Was it designed by the same guy who did the Austin Princess?

Re: Car Challenge?
Maybe that's really what made me think of Jaguar, not the wheels.
That's as much as I can get from the car, except the color looks quite Ferrari red.
Is it an Italian designer?

Re: Car Challenge?
Originally the car's colour was yellow which of course could also be Ferrari. It has neen restored by a later owner and repainted red. The designer of the body is not Italian. Strangely the body of the original car is still there. Panels have been added to the original body and could be removed to reveal the original car.Frank Hovis wrote:Maybe that's really what made me think of Jaguar, not the wheels.

Re: Car Challenge?
No,it's not based on an XJS. Frank has already identified the windscreen and soft-top as from the "E"Type. The designer did however also had a hand in designing the XJ seriesDannie Boy wrote:Is it based on a XJS?

Re: Car Challenge?
The connection to Reliant is that the same designer worked both for major car manufacturers and as a freelance designer. To my knowledge he never worked for Citroen but I have to admit that they also made some really ugly carsFrank Hovis wrote:Out on a limb, the Reliant connection, does it have anything to do with Citroen ?

Re: Car Challenge?
The original XJ6 was designed by Sir William Lyons but whether he did it on his own or not, I do t know, nor whether he worked on Reliant cars, which I doubtBristolian wrote:No,it's not based on an XJS. It's not another Ogle Design special is it ?
When I was looking at the other Ogle AM design I noticed they had done both Reliants and Jaguar.
