I have to go to Bkk hospital in the morning. I'll ask if they are still doing them.

I enquired a few months ago, and the answer was 'The Big Hospital' in Bangkok. I asked if 'The Big Hospital' had a name, but got no reply. I wrote to a few probables (websites said yes, but websites looked old), but zero response.

BH in Hua Hin said BH in Bangkok did them. I wrote to them, but received the usual Thai response - silence. My wife & I are due our next regular check-up at HHH at the end of next week, I am going to enquire then, If I get any info, I will post.

Thai high-risk groups ‘still need Covid boosters’

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... d-boosters

Unfortunately the article doesn't say where to get them.

I'm always concerned because my wife is very high risk. I failed to get any response from 'The Big Hospitals' in Bangkok, and asked my wife's doctor at her last check-up. She said absolutely no need anymore. Who do we believe?

Does anybody have any definitive answer to where they can be purchased please?

No idea where to get them, but in the UK over 65’s and those classified as “vulnerable” are recommended to have a booster!!

Yes, and most of my relatives have had it. Telling the vulnerable here to get a booster, but not saying where, is as useful as a chocolate fireguard. I'm quite happy to pay, but nobody seems to have stocks.

Assume you've checked all the local hospitals and Red Cross.

You may have to go to Bangkok, such as here (if still available):

I did previously, and was told nowhere locally, and we'd have to go to 'The Big Hospital' :? in Bangkok. In my attempt to identify 'The Big Hospital' in Bangkok, I wrote to several likely suspects (adverts similar to the Vichaiyut Hospital advert), but not one had the courtesy to reply.

My wife has an appointment at BH on Tuesday, and HHH on Saturday. I will ask again.

Better to phone or LINE. I've emailed several hospitals in the last few years and never had a reply. Except one which very promptly replied thanking me for my email, and saying they'll get back asap. Needless to say never heard from again.

I'll get advice from the local hospitals first. During my last quest, the advice from the local hospitals was totally unnecessary. First job is does the Bangkok Post article trump the hospital advice? It might just be a slow news day article, especially as they don't say where jabs are available.

Is the Covid-19 vaccine that has been in use autumn/winter 2024/25 in many European countries (Comirnaty Omicron JN.1) available in Thailand at this time of year for the elderly, chronically ill and infants? Or is a different type of Covid vaccine being used here?
Thanks

The current outbreak was reported to be mild but fast-spreading, not sure if that's still the info.

On that basis I'm not interested in a jab, but my real interest is in knowing how many actually had more than the initial two jabs years ago? I held off until I could get two Astrozenicas and then didn't bother with more.

Could we run a survey maybe?

Well, I don't know how mild, but I know that all my relatives back home over or around 65 got recommended both the influenza vaccine and the Covid 19 vaccine in the fall of 2024. And so far, compared to here, no new outbreaks have been reported there!

Well unless/until a survey is set up, I’ve had five jabs - three here in Thailand which were all different starting with the Chinese one, then Astra Zeneca and finally Pfizer. I also had two in the UK, first one was Moderna and I don’t think they told me what the second one was (given in October last year with a flu jab), although definitely not Astra Zeneca. I think that’s me done now, unless there’s a severe outbreak again and it’s recommended that we have a booster.

The advice I was given by the hospital was Covid is a completely different beast nowadays compared to 2019.

Even though I fall into the high risk category, and my wife is very high risk, the doc at the hospital told me vaccination is totally uneccessary now. However, even when I was trying to buy vaccine for my wife at least, I was either being ignored by hospitals, or told it was no longer available.
