Ireland trio doubts for Wales clash
Sean O'Brien, Jared Payne and Jonathan Sexton are injury concerns for Ireland ahead of the Six Nations game against Wales in Cardiff on 14 March.
Flanker O'Brien and centre Payne suffered concussion in Sunday's 19-9 victory over England, which keeps the Irish on course for the Grand Slam.
The pair have started the graded return to play protocols for concussion with no date set for their return.
Fly-half Sexton sustained a 'minor' hamstring injury against England.
Two weeks to sort it pray be to God!

Re: The Rugby Thread
Sean O'Brien, Jared Payne and Jonathan Sexton could well miss the game against Wales in Cardiff on 14 March through injury. Not the best news for Ireland, but, but without any disrespect for the former 2 - Sexton is surely the man Ireland would miss the most.
Wales have there own concerns, but for me losing Paul James for the remainder of the tournament is not too clever - a very good scrummager and ultimately an issue against the likes of the Ireland front row.
Here's to a big game in Cardiff, which I'm sure it's going to be......... the Paddies with a played 6, won 5 record at the moment is causing some concern - especially as 2 of those wins were against southern hemisphere opponents!!

[EDIT] Apologies JG - didn't see your post on the same subject.

Re: The Rugby Thread
Well, some light relief for Wales in that Captain Sam Warburton and Fly-half Dan Biggar are fit and available for next weekend's game against the Paddies....
Unfortunately one of Satan's Sentinels in the form of Wayne Barnes has wormed his way into refereeing the game after Steve Walsh pulled out....... good old Wayne doesn't like us "Taffs" too much!!
Never-the-less, God's Own shall prevail and derail the Paddies' attempt at a successive 6N title!!
JG - I've not seen any news regarding Sexton... is he fit to play?

No news is good news, I'm sure you want to see sexton, O'Brien and Payne in the side though it will give you a good challenge PH. 11 wins in a row would be nice for the squad

Re: The Rugby Thread
^ Mate, Wales stand a far better chance of victory if Sexton wasn't there, but as a rugby supporter there's no way I'd want to see players missing the game through injury..... we also want to play and BEAT (badly) your best!!
I've got my concerns with our front row and the "tight", but I'm confident we'll certainly hold our own or better elsewhere!!
It's always been a classic match for me, and on the few and far between instances I've managed to get a ticket for Dublin or Cardiff, it's been a wonderful experience and superb banter with great fans!!!
BRING IT ON I SAY!!!

[EDIT] 10 wins on the trot is bl**dy impressive, but that's where it's going to stay!!

Re: The Rugby Thread
Some good news for the bhoys in green:
Johnny Sexton on track for Wales match
Jamie Heaslip is now expected to be fit to face Wales
Jared Payne and Sean O’Brien continue to follow the head injury protocol, having both sustained concussion against England on March 1st, with the hope that both will recover enough to train fully “later in the week.”

Looking forward to dry sunny weather and a fast game. If rain hope they close the damn roof!!

Re: The Rugby Thread
just a little joke to keep you all going before the serious stuff starts
The other day I was in an empty pub having a quiet beer by myself.
The door opened and in walked the most stunning woman I've ever laid eyes on. 5'11'' tall, stunning blue eyes, silky blonde hair, an hourglass figure barely covered by a tiny mini skirt and a flimsy cotton top. I could see she was not wearing a bra and her incredibly firm breasts were on show. After watching her walk in I turned back to my beer. No sooner had I taken a sip when I turn to see her pulling another bar stool up close to me and sitting down.
She said “Hi”, and I said “Hi” in return. She asked how I was and took my hand and placed it on her perfect inner thigh, rubbing it up and down. “So, does that make you feel good?” she asked. “.... I'll bet you feel good,” she continued. “In fact, I'll bet you've never felt this good before.”
“Well, I have,” I corrected her. “You see, when I was 18, I was picked to play for the school 1st. XV in the Public School Finals in front of a crowd of about 3000 and I felt really good.” I immediately felt a bit pathetic saying that and I thought she would get up and go but she took my hand off her thigh and put it up the front of her top. Her nipple pushed into my palm as she massaged my hand into her pert, perfect breast.
“How do you feel now,” she purred. “OK” I replied. Again, she said, “I'll bet you do. In fact, I'll bet you've never felt THIS good before!”
Unbelievably I heard myself saying, “Well, actually I have. In that game, we were down by six points with about 20 seconds left in the match. The opposition kicked the ball deep into our half of the field, where I caught it, ran up field, side-stepped past the first few defenders, palmed-off a couple of would-be tacklers, burst through a few forwards, chipped over their fullback, regathered and scored a try right under the posts with about 2 or 3 seconds until full time. We were still behind by one point, but I had a simple kick at goal with which to win the match and ……… “
"Ahhh...." she growled between clenched teeth, more than a bit miffed, pulled my hand from under her top and thrust it down the front of her skirt. ! She whispered, “Well tell me this, Mr. Rugby Man. Have you ever felt such a perfect c***?”
Scroll down a bit
“I sure have,” I answered, “I missed the kick.”

Re: The Rugby Thread
Round 4 is upon us!!
For those in the prediction league, make your picks if you haven't done so already...
And for this weekend's matches: -
God's Own welcome the Men in Green to the Millennium Stadium to derail their Grand Slam and Championship aspirations.....
The Sweaties meanwhile travel down to "HQ" (rah rah) to clip the horns of Beelzibub and his minions....
And the third match of the weekend sees the Pasta Munchers take on Les Bleus in Rome........ Could it be a second victory of the tournament for the Azzurri??? They've done it before in Rome.......
Oh Yes, It Shall Come to Pass........

Re: The Rugby Thread
Phase 1 complete........
Wales U20's 19 vs Ireland U20's 12
Biased I know, but the scoreline doesn't do justice to the Welsh - the pack in particular. A superb display from the 8, and instrumental in one of the best tries I've seen this season at any level. Certainly some stars of the (near) future.I really have enjoyed this tournament so far and it's been a great standard of rugby from all sides..........
The women's XV going for the Triple Crown later today, and of course the men's XV looking to end the Paddies' current run of 10 victories...... Could well be a great weekend for Welsh rugby!!

Re: The Rugby Thread
Well my nails are hurting this morning and I'm very disappointed with the result, congratulations to Wales. The game, what a game, on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. Ireland started really slowly, but came back and could have pinched or drawn it. The score didn't show it but I still thought Ireland was the better side and missed some opportunities to have sewn the game up, small margins etc. Wales defence was awesome in the 22 especially. Not sure I agreed with the ref in the last play and to be honest thought his refereeing was not up to it but decisions went against both teams. Irelands centers being young and inexperienced didn't give the thrust that BOD and Darcy's experience gave and that cost, they will learn or a change needed Madigan/Payne switch maybe. Anyway dust myself off and look forward to the final weekend.

Re: The Rugby Thread
Yes, it was a very good game to watch.
Ireland were the architects of their own downfall because, in spite of all the pressure (and there were 2 fantastic spells in the 2nd half), they kept taking the ball back into the forwards where the Welsh defence was packed, instead of releasing it along the line. They also gave away too many penalties for Halfpenny to snap up.
It was interesting to read, after pharvey's comments, that both coaches were worried about ref Barnes before the game! But I thought he had an excellent game, allowing play to flow and favouring the attacking side. I love being able to hear the ref's comments during play. The game (and the ref) were helped by not having a constant stream of collapsed scrums.
