I can partially answer that one Pete. While they don't do enough, they are very active, but it doesn't get publicised on Farang pages.

A lot of this crap on the beaches originates a long way from Hua Hin (although, as I've said, I wonder why Navy Phirom produces more) Additionally, I think waste collection here is brilliant - it leaves the UK light years behind.

Where it falls down is:
  • The lack of public tips
  • Public laziness, e.g. the dog food that was dumped outside of my house last night (Chinese thread). 20 yards down the road is a bin. I've seen the old lady next door also throw her rubbish on the road outside rather than take it 20 yards (she has been educated, and doesn't do it any more  )
Basically, there are plenty of bins and the collection service (in my area at least) is good. However, for larger items, building waste, etc. there is nothing. There has been a broken WC beside our bin for over a week now. The bin man will take it eventually, but not until he's got capacity on his wagon.

Then there's the army of people travelling from bin to bin each day in search of recyclables. How often do we see them empty a bin to get an empty Chang bottle, and then ride off leaving the bin's contents on the floor?

I am reasonably happy with the Tessebahn's efforts, and certainly don't attach too much of the blame on them.

After seeing all of these weekly installments I really I wish one week I would see that they take what they collect and deposit it on the Thesaban Building steps.
Absolutely! They can even borrow my old Isuzu to carry it! :thumb:

I honestly don't see what that would achieve in Hua Hin. OK, the Trash Heroes and the Clean Hua Hin groups get the publicity because they are run by Farangs. However, as I've mentioned on my beach walks previously, and I see a lot on social media, there are also a lot of Thai groups undertaking similar activities. The Tesebahn are very active in this field (or should I say on this beach?) - they undertake/take part in many clean-ups. As I also said earlier, a lot of this waste is generated elsewhere and is washed ashore by adverse winds/currents.

In areas such as Bang Saphan, I've seen they have difficulty getting bins or having the rubbish collected - yes, dropping it on their Tesebahn (or whatever they have in Bang Saphan)'s steps might cause a ripple.

To me the big problem in Hua Hin is fly tipping, mainly by builders because there is nowhere to dump the stuff legally. Again, the Tessebahn clear areas, but when they clear one area, the rubbish appears in another. Maybe dropping a load on the steps of the police station. This might encourage the BIB off their arses and proactively catch some fly tippers in action.

If there is a mystery area that the Tessebahn use to dump the cleared fly tipping, why not open it to the public so they can dispose of their waste properly?

In Smorphrong there are a couple of skips that take all sorts of rubbish including builders' waste, garden waste, etc. Other areas of Hua Hin must have similar arrangements though I can't say I've ever seen such skips elsewhere here.

Look at some of the small roads between Sois 94 and 112. You'd need a lot of skips to take all that crap. My son was having his wedding reception up that way, but we had to cancel and re-arrange elsewhere when the road leading to the venue became a rubbish tip (and I mean about half a mile of dumped builders waste).

I'm still confused. The Clean Up Heroes did their thing yesterday, but I still don't have a clue where they did this week's clean. Quite ironically, they put out the following message regarding next week's clean:
Will you help us keep Hua Hin Clean?
You're welcome to join Clean Hua Hin.
See you next Sunday.
I'm afraid they have to be more specific regarding their location if anybody is going to find them.

23 Beach Heroes, including a group from the Moon Cafe & Refill Station in Bangkok cleared 50Kg of rubbish from North Takiab Beach yesterday afternoon.

A good effort guys.

I think you may be right, but that is not where the coordinates in Papaya's message took you to. Papaya got the coordinates from the group's page. It is little surprise so few found them this week.

This coming Sunday 24th November at 5pm the Clean Up Heroes will be meeting somewhere near the Soi 94 Railway Crossing (according to attached map) to clean the local area.

This is an area easily accessed by many. All Heroes both old and new will be welcomed. Why not help improve your local area.

22 Beach Heroes (including 3 kids) clambered around the boulders of the Ferry Pier on South Takiab Beach yesterday, clearing a massive 170Kg of rubbish.

A big effort, and a big result.

I have been away for a week, so I apologise for not advising yesterday's cleans. I was going to update the results of the cleans, but I'm confused. A third group seems to have appeared from nowhere, so rather than get it wrong, I won't post anything this week. Back to normal next weekend.
