Wasn't much impressed with Sterling. Lots of possession, little to show for it.

Did anyone else just lose eight minutes of the Turkey - Croatia game on Thai Expat TV (ITV1)? Got stuck at 71 minutes and finally came back at 79 minutes. Better not start doing that during the England games!

I agree with this. Also change the venue for the next games, Russia are not worth having the games.
Euro 2016: England and Russia given disqualification warning
12 minutes ago

Uefa has threatened to disqualify England and Russia from Euro 2016 if there is any further violence by fans.
It has begun disciplinary proceedings against Russia - but not England - after "totally unacceptable" scenes at Saturday's England-Russia game.

Footage appeared to show Russia fans rush at England supporters after the Euro 2016 1-1 draw in Marseille.
Charges against Russia are for crowd disturbances, racist behaviour, and setting off fireworks, Uefa confirmed.
There were issues with segregation of fans, the body admitted, promising security would be "strengthened".
Witnesses said trouble began in the stadium after flares were let off by Russian fans near the end of the game. Some then climbed across barriers designed to keep rival fans apart.

A number of Russia supporters appeared to kick and punch fleeing England fans, who were forced to clamber over fencing to escape.
Earlier in the day, England, Russia and local fans were embroiled in ugly clashes with riot police, with a number of bloodied fans being taken to hospital.

'Utter disgust'
Responding to Uefa's announcement, Russia's Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko it had "done the right thing" to start a disciplinary case, R-Sport news agency reported.
"It's the right thing, there were flares, there was a flare gun, there had been clashes in the stands, it's necessary to sort all of this out," he reportedly said.
"The fans were rooting greatly, but there are people who do not come for the football."
He was earlier quoted as saying there were "many nuances" to what happened, and Russian officials would investigate.

I understand that it's difficult (for an Arsenal fan) watching an England team that's made up of half the Spurs' squad in its first 11 and not a single Arsenal man but Harry Kane is obviously our best striker - just a bad day at the office for him. I've no doubt he'll come good.

Let's not forget... in the history of the Euros, we have never won the opening game. If we don't get a result against Wales then we are in some real trouble.[/quote]

Sorry to disappoint you GLC but club rivalries are put aside when England are playing, but since you feel it necessary to bring it up the Spurs squad (apart from Dier) weren't much good. The full backs were slow in crossing the ball, trying to take on the defence as if they were Sterling, and being just as effective, just average at best.

I thought the full backs did a good job. As did the pundits so you're maybe in the minority there.

My guess but I think you can handle things with the Russian thugs but what about the English ones?

Good lord, Portugal 1 Iceland 1. Termed "insane upset" with only 3% of those betting getting it right. "Major upset" Hungary 2 Austria 0, 12%. Keeps things interesting though. :D Pete

Poor form on the part of Mr. Ronaldo IMO. :tsk: You win any way you can win (legally), and tough luck to Portugal for not being able to figure out and penetrate their defense. Pete

I didn't see the game, but saw the highlights on the news this morning. I realise I'm extremely biased, but Gareth Bales' attitude seems a whole lot different! Ronaldo was smirking-even laughing after his free-kick misses - Bale would be suffering. It's obviously not money - Christ, these guys are on (IMHO) criminal amounts...... it's passion plain and simple - Ronaldo doesn't have it.

Completely agree Pharvey. Ronaldo believes that he IS football. Plain and simple. The guy's got a bigger ego than John Terry. At least Terry worked his socks off every game.

Regarding Bale... he is simply quality! Great footballer and a great chap. If England go out and Wales are still in (doubt it but stranger things have happened) I'll be rooting for Wales solely due to me man Bale playing! :D

^ And fair play to them - BIG hand :thumb: :D

Ugly scenes again yesterday with English and Russian fans - dearly hope there's no trouble today before the England Wales game. Unfortunately a minority of idiots are giving England a very bad name - Russia on the other hand....... :tosser:

A deserved win for England after a much improved second half following positive substitutions by Hodgson. For Wales Ramsey had a good game, I think he must have a phobia against passing to teammates in red !

England's first goal was offside. Roll on the 'video ref'.

Having said that, I was rooting for England and they finished up doing to Wales what the Rusians did to us. Goal after the 90 minute time.
