Hey, maybe that would be a good separate topic... "How many of the countries on the list have you been laid in?"

I guess that thread should be put under "Nightcrawlers" though (where my wife doesn't have access!).

Nine, unless you count the forays into the enclave of Baarle-Nassau as a visit to Belgium for Thai food ingredients, Lucifer beer and yesterday's newspaper... today.

35 for me, clearly not as well travelled as I thought, oh well there is still plenty of time - I hope.

Whoops, forgot Thailand, make that 36.

For me 11 country's i.e Canary islands count as one but many times, Australia 4 times i have had many multiple trips to the same country's i don't think you can count intransit stops where you dont leave the airport.

Here's a little game for you and quite good fun.

I’ve managed 32 in total, but you are right about Europe, I’ve twice visited four countries in 24 hours.
Once was a drive from Zurich to Valdez in Liechtenstein, then down to Milan for dinner and on to Nice for the night.
From here in Luxembourg it’s easy to get to Germany, France and Belgium and I think with a fast car and no traffic you could see a blur of all four in about an hour, (and a collection of speed-camera photos as souvenirs!)

37 With to-days count.
I made a trip through Yugoslavia in the late 70’s which was one country at the time, but today they count 5.
On the other hand the DDR don’t exist anymore, but I still remember that it was a real hassle to go from West to East Germany.

'Fraid not - The Canary Islands are part of Spain. They are simply one of many 'autonomous communities' within Spain. These communities are the first level of devolved government but do not constitute a separate entity. They are no more self governing than the Balearic Islands, Galicia, Murcia, Catalonia etc. and still send representatives to the Spanish State government. A bit like the way devolved government works in the UK but with a bit more clout!

I have been to all the Canary island's multiple times but because they come under Spain i have only counted them as 1 country.
