Flying into Thailand, latest updates
I finally arrived back to Thailand less than 2 hours ago. The process at airport arrivals was very well organised albeit a little over the top - passengers were invited to take a seat while someone checked all of your required papers - once checked you proceeded to the next stage where some of your details were recorded on a laptop and you were then clear to proceed to Immigration. The queues were short so no more than a 5 minute wait and processing was just 2-3 minutes and then collect your bags - mine were off very quickly so I managed to avoid putting my cases through the x-Ray machines and I was out to be met what was probably close to a hundred hotel representatives, but it was actually organised chaos and I found my hotel rep within a couple of minutes and he in turn located my driver just as quick and so I was on my way to the hotel literally within less than 10 minutes of clearing Immigration. After checking in at the hotel I was escorted to the designated area of the hotel for my PCR test which again was completed within a few minutes (the result was said to be by 10–11 tomorrow morning) so hopefully I’ll be back to Cha Am by early/mid afternoon tomorrow. I have also ordered my dinner and breakfast which was included in the package price.
From an efficiency point of view I’d have to give the system 10/10, but I do hope that it’s the first and only time I have to go through such a torturous procedure (that’s from setting of time the UK as well as my return).

Thanks Pete and the good news is that I received my negative PCR test report at 9.30 this morning so I’ve been back in Cha Am for nearly 3 hours.PeteC wrote:Welcome back.

How well did you handle flying both ways with a mask on? Where they strict about it, and I imagine periodic trips to the loo to breathe! Of all the things that put me off about long distance travel presently is the mask issue.

To be honest, I didn’t find it that much of an issue but I’m certain that they deliberately set the temperature lower than normal to help reduce the discomfort. Of course that meant wrapping up well to keep warm, but overall it wasn’t really an issue. They made frequent reminders about it being compulsory to wear a mask and that offenders would be reported to authorities on landing if they didn’t!!

Agree with that, however I am exempt from wearing a mask although I do use a plastic shield. Is this just the policy of the airline you flew with or is ita policy withall airlines. No idea really although by the sound of the announcements it seemed more like it was mandatory rather than the airline’s own ruleslindosfan1 wrote:Agree with that, however I am exempt from wearing a mask although I do use a plastic shield. Welcome back, DB.
I've got my UK trip booked for 24th Nov - 28th Dec. I hope I find re-entry as hassle free as you did.
I picked up my SHA hotel booking earlier today and the travel agent told me that if I had any trouble with the TP system, she could do it for 1,200 THB. I'll try myself but it's a relief to have it as a backup.

Glad you made it back! Was customs active?

I read somewhere that they’re trying to make it more user/friendly including allowing you to upload pdf files - I’m sure you’ll be fine!!lomuamart wrote:Welcome back, DB.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
Applied for my PASS a week ago. Not a peep of response. I didn't write down my confirmation number and it wasn't in my email application received notification. They send it now for new applications. I applied again a few days ago just in case and got a confirmation email with number. When I check that one I get a status of reviewing. I am from the US so maybe it takes many days to review my vaccine certification. In the US we don't have QR codes. What a pain in the ass.

That does seem odd because I applied from Europe a week ago as well and had the pass by Friday afternoon.m_right wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 4:28 am Applied for my PASS a week ago. Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
In the last ccsa briefing they mentioned Thailand Pass. Apparently some applications can be handled automatically while others need manual action. Two things that enable automatic processing are QR codes and acquisition of PKI public keys for other countries' systems.
Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
I posted earlier that my friend arrived from the US. He applied on the 1st and had the pass issued on the 3rd. So nothing to do with being from the US.m_right wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 4:28 am Applied for my PASS a week ago. Not a peep of response.
