Top scientists remain puzzled over how and why Covid spreads
In 15th-century Italy, a puzzling epidemic swept through the population, its origins and spread so baffling it was named “influenza” from the Italian “influence of the stars”.
Today, nearly 600 years later, the world is facing an equally perplexing respiratory virus, with unclear origins and confounding transmission dynamics.
Even now, after nearly two years of scientific endeavour, which has given us multiple vaccines and drugs to fight coronavirus, we’re still not completely sure about how it spreads or how to stop it. It is why the mask debate rages on.
5,218 (+61) patients are in critical condition, with 1,084 (+14) of them on ventilators.
There were also another 958 people who were reported positive after an ATK result. These are not included in the total until they show a positive PCR test result. I know one of these people in Bangkok (actually ATK test a couple of days ago). She has symptoms (cough, sore throat, fever) and has to isolate with her husband (not yet a positive test) in a single room. She may never be PCR tested and so will never show in the statistics other than as a positive ATK test.
Tough luck as she got her first jab of AZ only a few days prior. Wouldn't be surprised if she was infected at the vaccine centre. Husband not yet vaccinated.

Note: The below link will lead to the full, updated story sometime around 1500 hours this afternoon.
There were record 235 new Covid-19 fatalities and 19,843 new cases over the past 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Tuesday morning.
Not sure whether cases have plateaued or their counting capability has!

Have you not seen that they aren't counting these new tests. People are caring for themselves without going to the hospital for further confirmation.

Thanks, BB. I missed that. That makes the daily numbers even more unbelievable than they were before. They may as well drop the reporting of cases and just report deaths which are more difficult to ignore.
